additives to increase flushes
    #14569174 - 06/06/11 12:21 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Ive had really good luck with my bulk, but i notice i usually only get two good flushes then maybe a small third if im lucky.  I want to know what to use as an additive for extra nutrients to help increase my flushes and yield.  currently im using a coir/verm/worm castings mix.  it yields pretty good, but i want to get more flushes out of it.  the strain is ecuador and there in mono tubs that get sprayed three times a day and fresh air.  if anyone has anything that could improve my flushes or yield please let me know

you should use poo to noticeably increase flushes.

also if you searched you'd have found this awesome post by ch hell http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11247091#11247091

ok so i now know what to use to help reduce ph and increase yield.  so gypsum is the most important, it doesnt say how much to add per quart jar.  does anyone know how much to add to the substrate

I add 1/4 cup of gypsum to Damion5050's coir tek per brick of coir.

I add about 3-5 tablespoons to the soak water for 14 jars of grain.

don't worry about too much gypsum in your soak water cuz it'll just stay @ the bottom of the pot after the boil. You just want to make sure not to use too little.

As for when preparing your bulk substrate, it's a bit different. You want to try to use the Exact right amount, cuz it'll settle @ the bottom of your coir bucket & not drop out once it's cooled.

I'm still messing w/ the bulk addition, as I think 1/4 cup may still be too much.

That's just not how it works.  You have to remember fungi are not plants and don't behave like plants.  More 'nutrients' won't improve or extend flushes, since mycelium essentially eats solid food like we do.  A larger substrate might help, but then again, several smaller substrates are more efficient.
