Mystery Mushroom Fruiting From Kitchen Counter Backsplash. Please Help

Hi Shroomery, I was hoping you could advise me with an issue in our kitchen. Whenever we do dishes the back splash gets all wet and sometimes we forget to wipe it down afterward. This has resulted in bowing of the backsplash and the germination of mushroom spores. As you can see from the pics below, there are mushrooms fruiting from under the backsplash.

My question is: what should we do about this? The current plan is to pry the backsplash off and scrub the dry wall with bleach to kill the mycelium. What do you guys think? Will this do the trick or will some mycelium be within the wall, out of reach of the bleach?
Thanks

Take the back splash down, look behind the wall prolly have a leak, behind there, prolly more mycelium also.

I would dismantle that particular part of the kitchen, as it appears you have a pretty serious humidity/leakage problem. You're going to find quite a bit of rotting wood, and it may be less superficial than it seems, given the number of mushrooms that is popping up.
Btw, that's an interesting species, I don't recognize it off the bat. Usually, when there are mushrooms in kitchens or bathrooms, they're psathyrella species. But this is definitely not that. Perhaps a melanoleuca species? If you want to find out what they are, put up an ID request in the Hunting section, I'm sure someone will recognize it there. I'm sort of curious myself, so I'd be looking forward to that ID request.

Shoot some Ps. cyan back there lol. But no you really should take down the back spash, do it with a mask and gloves on, have your kids out of the house, and your Ac off- That way if there is any spore release not a big deal- would be more worried about Black mold

Nah man, the badge only displays in the Hunting & Identification section. I've always found this a good thing about that TI badge. Otherwise I'd probably rather have done without.
