Georgia fools: where all the bugs at?
    #14567546 - 06/06/11 12:20 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

So my parents flew me back to GA for a few days to do some manual labor and shit. I know we have a shit ton of Georgia pubbers on here so I have a question for yous guys.

I'm sitting out on the deck smoking a cig and all I hear are the neighbors AC units and a few crickets. Where the fuck are all the noisy bugs? It's usually a cacophony of loud ass bugs and frogs and flying squirrels and bats and shit by this time of year.

What gives? Where did all my nature noises go? Something happen that I didn't hear about? There's plenty of mosquitoes and gnats and shit (I think I inhaled a few) but where are is the regular wildlife I'm used to hearing?

yeah, I've noticed the same thing here in north east florida. The mosquito seem to be way out of hand, but I haven't seen or heard much of anything else. Maybe the tinfoilers were right and harp is targeting this region for another earthquake.

The thought of an earthquake in FL kinda makes me LOL. You guys will get fucked by a hurricane long before a major earthquake hits.

I still gotta wonder... what happened to all the noisy ass summer animals? I know this winter was harsh on the South, I kinda wonder if that has something to do with it. I miss all my frogs and owls and bats and flying squirrels and crickets that I used to talk to when I was stoned.

well up here there seems to be a lack of noises too.. i figure maybe its just too early.. what with winter lasting longer and all...

but still...

the peepers have gone back to sleep it sounds like and the big frogs are half as noisy as usual.

plus the bugs that make that droning sound are silent and not even half as many birds singing as usual this time of year.

dunno whats up with that.

it is a bit cooler than usual tho..

we had a hot couple days but its gotten cooler again..

thats my only explanation for the peepers going back to sleep.

just across the state line the cicadas are out, they're supposed to be out
here but I havent heard any and I've only dug up one cicada nymph and just a
few dozen larvae

other than that, I think the bugs are all at my house

I haven't taken notice. But now I will and the bugs will keep me awake at night now. Thanks.

it's the drought i'm betting, i've noticed a distinct lack of bugs as well here in GA (not that i'm complaining!)
