WAMPSVILLE — One person arrested in connection with the seizure of LSD-laced Sour Patch Kids and a large drug stash in Oneida in April pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in Madison County Court Wednesday.
Michael T. Matzell, 25, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance before Judge Biagio DiStefano.
Matzell was arrested, along with 23-year-old Molly M. Frink, April 7 when Oneida police executed a search warrant of the home they were staying at on Kelly Road in Oneida following a month-long investigation. Police found 33.8 grams of cocaine, 8.5 grams of LSD, 107.4 grams of marijuana, 0.6 grams of heroin, suboxone and methadone.
Both were charged with second-degree and third-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, forth-degree possession of marijuana and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
In a disposition agreed upon between Matzell and prosecuting Assistant District Attorney Bob Mascari, he pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony. The agreement dictates a five year determinate sentence in state prison, three years post-release supervision and $300 paid in restitution. He also agreed to cooperate against his co-defendant, Frink.
Matzell also pleaded guilty to seven violations of probation as a result of his April arrest. He was serving out a probation sentence stemming from a 2007 St. Lawrence County arrest and conviction for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. In exchange for his guilty plea, an agreement was reached for him to serve one year in prison concurrently with the drug charge.
His attorney, Karin Marris, requested the prosecution affirm its agreement not to pursue a misdemeanor violation of probation charge pending in Oneida City Court. Mascari said the DA’s office would drop the charge.
After pleading guilty to both counts, DiStefano asked Matzell to describe what happened. He recounted that he was arrested at the house he was staying at on Kelly Road on April 7. When asked why he was arrested, Matzell said, “They (police) had a search warrant and they found illegal drugs.”
Matzell admitted to knowing there was LSD, cocaine, heroin, marijuana and pills in the house and said they were his.
Because Matzell now faces a second felony conviction, DiStefano warned that a third felony offense would bring a much harsher penalty.
Matzell is scheduled back in court Aug. 18 at 9:30 a.m. for sentencing. His attorney requested an early date, saying Matzell wished to go to state prison as soon as possible. DiStefano said that was the earliest date available to him.
Until then he will continue to be held at Madison County Jail without bail. DiStefano urged Matzell to cooperate with correctional staff until then.

That dude may have cut his time in half by snitching, but once he "hurries up and gets to state prison" it's going to feel 10x as long.
Fuck that kid.

Ya I got caught with 8 doses cut into two chunks, and the report read .02 mg of LSD ( 2 doses ).
I know someone that got caught with 4 paper hits, and one sweet tart, and got 6 grams of LSD.
I bet he didn't have more then 5 hits on sour patch kids.
