Mushroom victims see green sun June 6, 2011 - visayandailystar.com
A farmer in Kabankalan City and his six children saw the sun turn green and mushrooms jumping around and had to be hospitalized Saturday.
Dionisio Cabu-al, 45, and six of his children of Sitio Mag-aso, Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, were hospitalized at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for suspectedblack mushrooms poisoning, DYEZ Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod reported.
Cabu-al told DYEZ he harvested the black mushrooms which he described to have black caps and brownish stems, from his farm in Sitio Mag-aso.
He said he squeezed the mushrooms in salt and made soup from them, which they ate for breakfast Saturday morning.
Aside from his children, he also gave some of the soup to the family cat.
After eating the soup, however, Dionisio said he felt dizzy then he saw the sun turn green. His children also noticed the same change in color.
He also said the leftover mushrooms came alive. “They were jumping,” he said.
They then felt thirsty and ate sugar to counter the effects of the poison. Then they boiled jackfruit leaves on water and drank it to help, he added.
They kept drinking more water but “We were getting weaker, so we all lay down and waited for our deaths,” he told DYEZ Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod.
Luckily, his wife had not eaten the mushrooms, and she was able to seek help.
Dionisio and his children are all confined at the CLMMRH, recovering from the poisoning.

That's crazy, wonder if it was poisoning or if they were actives.

Broad description leads me to think actives.
I don't know of any poisonous mushrooms where you'd feel any kind of psychoactive effects, especially before you'd feel sick to your stomache.

Yeah, definitely an active of some kind. The only description is "black caps and brownish stems." Don't know what that could be. Would have been nice if they included a pic with the story.

Wonder what kind of mushroom that was, its quite possible that it was a psilocybin containing species thats not well know
Interesting that they all experienced the same exact effects

That's one hell of a family dinner. Even let mom be the sitter. I wonder if it was preplanned and things just went askew.

A Pan. or do they Witch's Hat there, or a Conocybe? Some of those are active and some may match a similar description.
Witch's Hat I have read is "rumored" to be psychoactive but I haven't seen anything else on it. Perhaps it varies. I could look it up but I'm being a lazy.
Someone should really send them a mushroom ID form.

Wonder how that's going to affect the children's minds. Of course with no age given it would be hard to predict, but I'm assuming they were relatively young.

Cactu took a picture of a yet to be identified psilocybin containing species found in Mexico that had a black cap and brown stem.
On my strongest mushroom trip (80 wet grams) I distinctly remember seeing the moon turn green and then getting weaker and weaker. Eventually I accepted that I was going to die and just laid down.

In the Philippines they actually sell preserved psilocybin mushrooms in a sorta salty brine. They are all black in the jar.

I kinda doubt they independently experienced the same effects. I imagine the most likely thing is that the father told his kids what he was experiencing and they went along with it.

I question the integrity of his description. Either way its not enough info to ID it as any more than LBM, which it may not even be. Size, habitat, gills or pores, etc. were not mentioned.
The first thing i thought of are the accounts of psychoactive Boletus sp. in Asia. I can't remember what they call them over there, but if you do not cook them thoroughly enough they cause intoxication. I remember the accounts of experience are often very strange and not typical of tryptamines imo. Regardless we will probably never know what it was.
I wonder about him eating them too. It seems asians get mushroom poisoning alot more than other cultures.

I hate the feeling I get when "i believe" I'm about to die. And the thing that gets me most is I'm more worried of how they are going to find me.

Really the cat too?? I think he was already influenced from trans-dermal contact.
