In my teens I always was intrigued by psychedelics but extremely put off some aspects of tripping. Now in my early 20s and having lived a little my thoughts have changed and my mind has opened - a college town will do that to you. Long and short of it is I've been ready and willing to gobble some shrooms for a couple of years but always missed out on acquiring them. UNTIL YESTERDAY. From what I read on this site it could be called a Level 3 trip.
My buddy had asked me to ride with him to our friend's family reunion/crawfish boil/huge-ass band party, an all night event with live music, food, beer, and drugs everywhere and aplenty with people camped out across the 5 acre property... a mini-Woodstock if you will. I had thought about not going until right before my buddy was about to hit the road, when he called asking if I wanted some shrooms shrooms at last! So it was settled, I grabbed a few things and we hit the road in my buddy's VW.
We finally get there, meet up with our friend and both of us are blown away by how many people are at this house party, not to mention the stage and three bands to play all night. After enjoying some food, beer, and pot, we decide it's time to get trippy. I ate around 2 g of dried shrooms, smoked a bowl and went about the party. My buddy ate a little less than 2 g but I was glad to have a fellow tripper.
The music/lights/woods around the house were a great place I felt for my first trip but I was very concerned with tripping with crowds of loud non-tripping people. Luckily they were all drunk or stoned so at least I didn't have to put on a sober face. As I came to find out it didn't bother me at all.
The shrooms kicked in with around two hours of daylight left. I was walking from the stage out back around to the garage for a beer with my buddy and a girl we'd met at the party. Halfway there I almost stop in my tracks when a huge buzzing warm wave of happiness hit me like a breaking wave on the beach. The sort of high you get from getting really stoned on dank, but much more cerebral. I felt genuinely happy and couldn't wipe the grin off my face -- I knew this was going to be great.
I remember grabbing a beer and turning around to talk to my buddy and this girl. Looking at the two of them talking I could tell their appearance had changed subtly, almost like they and everything around me was vibrating, and it sorta created a glow around each person. We walked back to hear the main band play, and this is when the trip kicked into high gear.
The first thing I noticed was how AMAZING the music sounded all of the sudden now that I was tripping. Like the difference in an 8-track and a high def digital sound system, but in a way I can't describe. Pretty soon, every surface was covered in tiny, brilliant kaleidoscopes that rearranged themselves constantly. The lead guitarist had my attention with his guitar licks, and while focusing on him I realized he had changed- his proportions were cartoonish, caraciturish. Sometimes it looked like instead of his hand moving up the neck of the guitar, his hand stayed in place and his fingers stretched the length of it.
We took a break from dancing by the stage and sat on the deck looking down into the woods, full of live oak, which has twisted, gnarly trunks, and the ground was covered in bright green ferns; so it was a cool place to begin with, but add some shrooms and you get MAGIC. I was overwhelmed with an all-consuming happiness down to my very core. The trees were just amazing, the trunks bent and swayed in random directions, like they were alive. The green leaves of their canopies were shining and twinkling like stars in the dusky light.
Then I remember going to a girl's car to share a bowl. It was a little Hyundai, but when I got in I said something about it being a Honda, and I was sure of it until I took a second look at the steering wheel. What had surely been a Honda logo I realized was actually a Hyundai logo... Then I realized I didn't feel like I was in a car at all, and I started to wonder where the hell we were. The inside of the little sedan looked as large as an auditorium. I knew my friend was just a couple feet from me but it looked like he could have been dozens of feet away.
Everything was hilarious, especially when my fellow tripper was around, I felt like he understood the humor around us like nobody else could. Back at the garage it was like watching a cartoon on TV, the colors were strangely new but the same, and everyone was slightly distorted.
From the garage back to the stage. It was dark now and the band's sparse but adequate light show was kicking my brain's ass. The music was incomprehensibly beautiful to listen too, and the girl I danced with most the night had a great vibe around her. Simply put it was some of the most fun I've ever had. I was so happy and everyone around me was happy and that helped steer my trip in such a good direction. I remember I kept saying "I'm tripping balls right now," but looking back it's hard to recall everything that went on and why I felt the need to express to everyone something they could not possibly understand.
The peak of the trip was probably noted by a visit inside the house to the bathroom. As I stood there relieving myself I stared at the wallpaper. WOW. Never thought I'd want to stare at wallpaper. The floral print was a life form of its own. The little designs and flowers were all capable of moving and spinning. And the colors! Oh the colors! The kaleidoscope effect wasn't covering everything, and what it didn't cover looked indescribably shiny and vivid in color. It was like fresh, wet paint but so vivid the colors looked fluid.
The trip wound down in the early early morning hours, however I did notice it got a little stronger for a few minutes after some potent pot smoking.
I recommend shrooms to anyone who KNOWS they are ready for them. You don't want to do them until you're completely comfortable with the notion. And if you are ready, munch them shrooms because it's something you'll never forget.
