oh. I wouldn't know about that, seeing as I only alluded to it due to your username being that of a minor character* in the Dune series, which I know nothing about.
*you spelled it wrong btw.

Yeah don't forget something called un/reracking the bar.

I am following Crossfitfootball.com I just did a 395 deadlift for 5 reps this week and a squat of 225 for 5 which i feel kinda embarrassed about. . I then did a (2 sets) of (3 reps) for 225 bench today, after i had already did workouts. I guess go to crossfitfootball and you can see exactly what i did...

just bench light weight for high reps instead. if you do that, with impeccable form, you're technically stronger than some meathead who can only lift a huge weight for 1 rep. form is everything.

I'm pretty sure it kept saying username unavailable when I tried to use otheym. It was awhile ago can't really remember either way but I have a few others accounts as othyem because of that.
Also, on an unrelated note, anyone here ever deal with elbow pain from squats? I squat low bar and whenever I get around 225 lbs plus my elbow always kills me.

elbow pain from low bar squatting is really common, it's caused by taking too much of the weight on your hands, where your hands should just be steadying the bar, not bearing any weight. good vid here.

Thanks, trying out my new chains today on the squat and just got it figured out, I had the bar way to low on my back. Benching irrated the shit out if it having already been injured. Going to lay off pressing for a bit and hopefully come back pain free.

That is crazy man.. take it easy, do not whatsoever try a 5rm 3rm and specially a 1rm. Just dont max at all on deadlift. Or squat. Do lighter weights and higher reps to be safe. Don't do standing overhead press or any clean n press, jerks or snatches.

Interesting reading through this thread. I'm impressed by your results.
I've been an off and on lifter for many years now, but never got serious about it till now. How do you feel with some of mike mentzer's philosophies on training? Granted, this is more on the side of bodybuilding and not powerlifting, but he has some incredible ideas.
I followed these two guys at www.boiseexperiment.com and decided to give some of the concepts a whirl. 3 months ago, I was a huge skeptic.
Some of the main concepts are
1. Most people over train themselves and don't even know it. Yes they got results, but the results they "may" have achieved with adequate rest could have been far greater. The main idea is that lifting weights doesn't build muscle. Your body is responsible for that. So what do you need to do to allow it to build muscle most efficiently? Well first you need to send a signal to the muscle building system of your body...we do this by training that muscle to absolute failure. Then we give our body enough rest to do it's job (of course, proper nutrition as well)
2. The idea is, you don't need 3 sets to do this. One set for each exercise to absolute failure. Slow cadence reps are important on all exercises. Having no external "helpers" like gravity, momentum, etc...with slow cadence reps, the burn and "pump" is incredible. The absolute failure is key...i was surprised what that actually entailed. I always thought I worked to failure, but I wasn't. The best is failing on the negative if possible. Have a spotter help you complete the positive and continue until you fail on the negative. Once you do your one set to absolute failure, you've torn muscle and sent the signal to the system.
Now you have to give it enough time to repair back up to where it was and beyond. Further tearing of the muscle with more sets only theoretically makes the recovery time longer.
My workouts are 15-20 min and I do the same workout every 6 days. The results for myself are jaw dropping. every single workout I get stronger.
