Whenever I'm reading a book
    #14565900 - 06/05/11 06:49 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I unconsciously speak/write/think in the manner that the book was written. For instance, The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck induced an Okie accent in me that randomly comes forth in great accuracy in my speech without even consciously trying to imitate the style. The Travels of Marco Polo has me writing like I had been born prior to the 18th century and Treasure Island has led me to write in that fusion of old and new English.

It feels weird man

Same type of shit happens with me. It seems like your imagination and mind is so deeply involved in creating this world which you aren't really in, that you take on attributes of the protagonist.

Reading Kerouac has me thinking the words "dig" and "wild" every other word for a good month after I finish the book.

It's almost like hypnotism or a form of meditation when your focus is so intently drawn into the story that external stimuli ceases to exist and you become the story.
