I don't think that would work, different drugs can use the same receptors but have different effects.
Idk for sure though.

Yeah, the point is you need the drug molecules to bind with receptors. You can't just reduce drug experiences to electrical signals.
Maybe with nanotech it would be possible, but why bother when you have the drugs anyway?

Drugs are like keys to different receptors. I'm not so sure you could just zap the area and be on the drug of your choice.

Yeah you pretty much got it right from what I understand. Psilocybin, dopamine, serotonin all bind to the same receptor but have vast differences in effect.

One friend of mine said scientists induced a religious experience by using some sort of device that fits over your head which stimulates certain receptors in the brain through electrical energy. I'm not sure where he read this but I would love to discover that article.

Nanotechnology could probably replace drugs IMO. You could control them remotely and tell them when to switch off and switch on, etc. It'll be like synthehol in Star Trek where you can be drunk as fuck one minute and then be perfectly functional on the Bridge the next.

I think that's a machine used for inducing temporal lobe epilepsy.
Anyway, my 4265th post is dedicated to myself. U mad?

Or new drugs could replace current drugs, all humans would have a IV injection port installed into them, Matrix style.
Maybe in some far off sci-fi fantasy where we have achieved the status of gods, will nanotechnolgy replace actual drugs.
