Did the police have the closiong scheduled in advance? or were they required to do it as the result of the protestors actions?
Im wondering if there is evidence of a permit. And if there was indeed a permit why can the cops shut down the memorial and kick people out?
yes, if the protest gets out of hand, which it obviously did since this was supposed to be a silent protest and the douchebag organizer was far from silent... I'm assuming they had a permit, surely they wouldnt be stupid enough to stage another protest while out on bond for the first one, with his face all over the footage it's nothing to issue a warrant and then hit him with the 3 strikes laws, that how misdemeanors become felonies worthy of a life sentence in the eyes of the courts
now wouldnt that be funny, 3 protesting arrests, simple misdemeanors on their own are suddenly a life sentence... 14 years for showing his ass in the most harmless of ways

Well I would not doubt there is one. There is video of dude man on the phone with the police chief. The chief said things like "we will be more than happy to tell you where you can be and this and that. But dude man sounds like a complete dick head (laughing at the cop). Although I think he provides solid points. Ill have to find it.
But if they did have a permit. The act of shutting them down should go against the first amendment IMO. Oh you can protest but only between the hours of 3-5 LOL

you seem to think the police would have just closed the memorial regardless of the protesters being there or not when in actuality we all know it's the presence of the protesters that resulted in it's closing, ie, the protesters were the cause of the memorial's closing

know what happens if you protest past 8pm in my town... you incur the wrath of rednecks, trust me, you want the cops to brutalize you
explain how shutting down a monument is a violation of the first amendment?
how is shutting down an illegal protest a violation of the first amendment?

The three strikes laws only apply to felonies...
http://www.lawinfo.com/fuseaction/Client.lawarea/categoryid/137
Quote:
Most importantly, misdemeanors are not counted as "strikes" in states that have adopted three strikes laws. However, if a person has already been convicted of two felonies, the misdemeanor could potentially be considered the "third strike" offense, which could result in a mandatory 25 year to life prison sentence.
So there's no way these guys could ever get life for only misdemeanors.

nope... I sat in court with my ex mother in law when a judge said said to a woman "this is your fourth time in front of this bench on misdemeanors, Ga has a 3 strikes law so I'm compelled to remand you over to superior court as you are now a felon"
dont make the same mistake
http://www.threestrikes.org/calif_0.html
Quote:
The most hotly debated aspect of the California law is that prosecutors may decide to file felony charges for crimes that are usually misdemeanors, thus triggering the three-strikes provision. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to this rule in 1999, though the court's four more liberal members issued statements suggesting they considered it a potentially serious issue.

lol... think again

Three Strikes Law Washington created a law system in 1993 that is called the Three Strikes Law. In this system individuals who have violated certain laws--normally sexual offenses--will have aggravated sentences that are mandatory without parole. Because some misdemeanors include sexual offenses, an individual who has been charged with two misdemeanors for the same crime may then be charged with a felony instead on the third offense.

They're not in California and as long as they don't commit some sort of sex crime while protesting in Washington then these guys won't have to worry about a life sentence. Nobody has ever been handed a life sentence for simply protesting.

see how easily you misinterpret things, it doesnt have to be a sex crime, it was started with the sex crimes but continues with every crime if the judge decides to pursue it that way
it really cant be made more clear than this
an individual who has been charged with two misdemeanors for the same crime may then be charged with a felony instead on the third offense.

Yeah he addressed that in the post directly above you. Applies in washington, and applies to crimes other than SA

since I've not read every single court ruling handed down over the last 3 decades it's very possible you could be wrong especially since you didnt specify any country, we know china sometimes executes protesters but here in the US, that 3 strikes law does apply and whether or not it's happened, that would be up to you to find and also with this being america, isnt there always a first time for everything
