DMT is jumping out of the International space station to skydive to earth.
Salvia is being punched in the face by an angry english gentleman made entirely out of geometric shifting tictacs.

DMT feels alot cleaner to me... Salvia seems more aggressive to me... , DMT feels like you are actually being turned onto something epic.... Salvia can have this feeling as well, but it also feels alot like something is playing tricks on your brain....
I <3 them both.... idc what anyone says
both knock you out of your dimension for a few

There should be several prior threads with just the kind of info you are looking for. Try the search engine, its actually pretty darned good.
FWIW I love DMT, but fear the dysphoria of salvia far too much to ever smoke it again. I just acquired some cuttings, and will try the traditional method of quidding leaves in the fall after my babies have grown up big and strong. I like the notion of having cared for the actual plant beforehand. Hopefully, it will repay my kindness. My relationship with Salvia did not start off too well.
Edit: Just stumbled upon this in the Trips Report subforum...you might want to read this and compare what was written with DMT trip reports for better insight into the differences. See: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14565499#14565499

NatureBoy, I love your answer.. I had a bad experience with salvia as well. I hope your efforts are rewarded.
DMT=always a beautiful, interesting experience. Salvia=scary and very mysterious. My fear overwhelms my curiosity.
I'm also pretty curious about the high extract amounts with Salvia. I mean, 50x potency.... That just seems outrageous. Like you're asking to be scared shitless.

I don't want to do salvia but I do want to try dmt. I don't want to do salvia because everyone says it's scary.
One time my best friend did salvia, was pretty strong. I wasn't with her. But she said that for 10 minutes, the ONLY thing she knew was that she had turned into a blanket and that she was depressed because she was a blanket. She said she just started staring at a blanket and the next thing she knew, she was the blanket.

the only bad trip i ever had was on salvia. i was very fearful someone would open the door and come in my room, the two ppl with me assured me that no-one would. then someone came in my room, just like i feared. i couldn't stop laughing or sweating, everything looked like a cartoon. it only lasted about 3-5 minutes. it wasn't so bad i wouldn't do it again, which i have. since the first time i only get a strange body high, like i did way to much weed, pills and beer.
i remember nothing of my DMT trip.
a good friend of mine loved salvia, and it's the only hallucinogenic she ever has done.
like i said: it's different for everyone.
experience life, don't fear it. jump into that pool head-first and see if you can crack open your 3rd eye.

I've never done dmt, and the salvia extract can get pretty wild/scary/awesome/intense sometimes.
My buddy grows salvia plants, and gave me a bag of leaves that I've been smoking about once a week for the past couple of weeks. The leaves aren't as intense as the extract, (for me 10x was more potent than 80x)but seems to last a little while longer. Or atleast isn't as confusing. I usually take like 3 or four hits, you don't have to hold em in as long either, and just let it take me for a ride. Its not as confusing, and you have time to remember that you just smoked salvia before the trip sets in.
hard to explain, but its what I do now instead of the extract. I'd really like to try some dmt though. If only it'd find me

I also prefer regular leaves to the extract.
Here is my list of differences
Salvia: Sometimes dysphoric, confusing. Weird body sensations (being pulled by invisible forces), Entities commonly described as Lady Salvia (I have heard her voice and she took out anger on me, but I deserved it I was smoking Salvia just to get high at that time). Visuals can be kinda like a 2d cartoon, but there also a zipper style visual that seems to unfold different realities and images. Sometimes you can not control your body which is why a trip sitter is advised when smoking strong extracts, ego death is very possible.
DMT: Euphoric usually, really strong intense come up, visuals are extremely colorful and 4d, very common to have entity contact, other-worldly, intense body high consisting of strong vibrations which keep you stuck in place, ego death, synesthesia is common, strong time dilation, you can feel energy coming from every living thing, strong buzzing sound in the ears (carrier wave), strong mental effects, not for those who do not have a strong interest in psychedelia.

Salvia = kappa opioid receptor antagonist = weird-ass hallucinations.
DMT = 5HT2A agonist + 5HT2C agonist + ??? = "classic psychedelic" hallucinations + spiritual, other-worldly stuff.

DMT is an amazing adventure. Blissfully rocketing into beautiful lands of color and life.
Salvia is an adventure into the deepest depths of hell. Overwhelming agony as you feel your bones breaking and your skin tearing.
At least for me.

they are both similar in that they are both smoked , both are very intense, with a very quick onset, but DMT is a tryptamine psychedelic, where as Salvia is a deliriant.
dmt is the way to go dude
its the jewel in the psychedelic crown

OP as hard as it is to believe, these two drugs really do have just that little in common. You smoke them, they don't last long, and they are extremely powerful, that's it. The rest is night and day.
I liked the post above Quote:

and of course this one really describes it well for me too:

Shamelessly quoting myself from another post on the DMT part:
DMT: makes you God-smart. Within a split second after inhaling I understood supersymmetry, quantum mechanics and the string theory and the Grand Unified Theory immediately became clear and self-explanatory to me. Unfortunately only for about 10 minutes. Then I was dumb again.
Salvia: no desire to ever try it.

I've had hilarity and bliss from two separate occasions of salvia. 60X and 10X. After smoking the 10, all i could feel was a very wonderfully cold blast of energy air, felt like i was 100,000 ft high getting blasted by winds on some foreign moon.
the 60X experience was a tad more involved, took 3 hits, and had some amazingly odd conceptualizations. At one point i was falling through doors as i opened them to next part of my mind, all the while trying to avoid the thoughts that were floating around, about to be thought up, but i didn't want them to be, i needed to be in control of what thought comes up at what frame in time, because that's what the peak was, there were many frames of time, and we are gliding through them, ever forward, but able to effect that current frame we're... and other weird-as-boogers stuff like that.
I think if you have a strong mind (and this isn't an ego thing, it's a willingness to let go and actually go there, and maintain some semblance of calm.) you have a chance at having an INTERESTING time on salvia. I've never once, and probably never will hear it being compared with LSD or mushrooms or DMT; those access some parts, Salvia helps you access places you just don't usually go on the others.
