Pedro and Loph, shoul I move them outside?
    #14563924 - 06/05/11 10:04 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So I have some cacti, one pedro thats about 4 inches, 7 others that are quite small, about an inch or less. I also have 3 baby lophs that are only a few cm, I will try to post a pic of them later.

My question is, should I move all these cacti outside? They've all been sitting in lit windowsills until now. The weather is nice though and it looked to me like the baby lophs were stretching so I thought maybe they could use more light.

Can I put all these cacti in full sun? Partial? or full shade?
Also, how often should I water? Once the soil is completely dry?

Thank in advance, I'm new to all this.

I'd ease them into it a bit at a time, give them as much light as they seem to like.
And yes, always let the soil get good and dry, then water to capacity and leave it.

The pedros should be fine in full sun outside.
The lophs would do better still in shade/bright shade. They would appreciate being more green at their age, they aren't stretching much yet.

Thanks for the advice MH.
I didn't know what to think, I thought they looked a little elongated. I brought the lophs back in tonight and will put them back in thier windowsill.

How much heat can the Pedros take? It's going to be like 95 for the next couple days, can they take full sun in that kind of heat? If so I'll leave em be outside, but if not I wanna make sure to bring em back inside for now.
