Woodlover Question?

Just got a hold of a few Ps. Azurescens spores and was wondering whiich is the better route to go here?
I understand I'm way too late for a fruiting this year, but should I start now and over-winter for a bigger crop next year, or should I just wait until december and start it fresh for next season?
Will the mycelium be too weak (if I start now) to over winter, or would a layer of good cardboard and perhaps a few chopped leaves provide enough of a blanket for them?
Last, has anyone ever tried soil cables on a young patch to maybe mature it over winter and get a spring flush, or do they simply fruit in fall as a genetic thing? Would the cold wet spring weather be able to mimic the fall weather enough to trigger pinning?
Thanks in advance anyone who can help!

Also, would there be any benefit to isolating via agar now, in order to run this winter vs just shooting MS this winter? I've no agar experience, but I can follow directions well, so no worries if that's the better route to go here...
Would this be an ok type to start on or are others better suited for beginners? Good thing is I have time I suppose...

If I was you i'd look up all the info on agar you can. If you're not fruiting until winter, then you can have a ton of isolates to fruit off of by the time your ready! I'd go that route as you could be fruiting 10-30 different isolates by then

ok, thanks guys! Sounds like I'll do a bit more reading before I dig into them... no sense in rushing it I suppose.
When you say why not both, do you mean running MS now to overwinter while isolating for winter batch to supplement spring bed, or ?
If isolating, I'd want the entire patch to be of the isolate, correct? Mixing with MS spawn would defeat the purpose, no?

if you've never grown shrooms before, save the spores. if u have exp with cubes, do some agar work this winter but don't make bulk sub until your ready to put it in the ground. if u get the bed made in the spring u should have boomers in the fall.

Yeah I would start agar now then get your isolates ready,I grow out my isolates on sheets of cardboard in the winter then store them between sheets of wax paper in a fridge then there all ready to spawn to bulk in the spring
