I read damions elementary coir tek and it calls for 5qts of spawn to a brick of coir and I forget how much verm he said, but I have about 3 to 3- 1/2 quarts of spawn. how much coir and verm would I use for my spawn? Thanks in advance

Depends how big your container is... and how deep you want your substrate.. I usually do 1:2, 1:3...
I also followed Damion's tek, and just used what I needed...
good luck!

His tek needs 2 quarts of verm, total of 10 quarts of substrate with optionally 1 quart of gypsum.
3 and 1/2qts of spawn to 7qts of substrate. There ya go.
You can keep the leftovers in a flower pot outside.

1 quart of gypsum is way too much for 1 gallon of water.
I use 1/4 cup of gypsum & still have a bit of gypsum sediment @ the bottom of the bucket.
2 quarts course verm. 2-1/2 quart medium verm. 3 quart of fine verm.
1 standard 600-650g brick of coir is 9 quarts.
That's 67-72g per quart.
As for water content, I'd use 3/4 of a gallon.
but honestly, I'd just G2G those jars & have at least 18 jars for two monos per the tek.

Have to call it a quits for now had to move back in with the parents (i know it blows) so this is my last run for now, so I just need what I can work with just 3 and a half quarts of spawn. Small mono or dub tub setup.

well, you'll be alright w/ all the math I provided for ya
I'd probably do 6 quarts of the coir + 2/3 of the verm (whichever you have) & 2/3 of the water...
that way you'll have a decently high spawn ratio & the right depth.
Try a mini if you can find the tub, if not dub it'll be.

I'd recommend using 1" holes for the mini, also.
Either that, or make sure to use a little tighter polyfil in the tub.
You just gotta mess w/ it a bit to get her dialed in but once you do...Zang...

I used the same size for my GH trays...lids didn't work properly & I always got early pins...not pins before 100% but before consolidation.
I recommend drill 1 3/4" hole in the center & covering it w/ an SFD or equal & wrapping the sides w/ saran wrap to avoid excess AE.

Lil confused. Am I drilling one hole on the wide side or 2 on opposite ends of the wide side. And what is sfd btw?

sfd = synthetic filter disk
1 qty. - 3/4" diameter hole in the center of the lid

beads of water where?
In the colonizing tub?
That's fine. Here's how my tubs look during colonization:
<--Initially after Spawning
<---Several days into colonization.
That's all condensation on the interior of the tub. Just let it be.
Once you introduce to Fruiting Conditions, you can dab off the surface of the substrate w/ a paper towel where the water has pooled.

Your substrate should look like this during introduction to Fruiting Conditions:

Notice the large amount of droplets of water. You provide ample FAE w/ loose poly & a fan in the room or by fanning 2-4 times a day.
That will cause the moisture to evaporate, causing massive pinning. If you notice the RH/substrate a bit dry, mist 1-2 times per day, depending on fanning & look.
It looks like you only have 1 hole in the top tub. I'd recommend setting up the dub tubs like a pseudo small mono.
1 high hole on each end of the tub
1 hole in the center (a little off centered from one another) of each side
It actually looks like your RH is low from that picture. Isn't that immediately after introducing Fruiting Conditions?
I get a lot of condensation on the sides of my tubs during colonization & Fruiting (a lot less during Fruiting).

Yes I snapped that picture after sealing it off. I did what you told me to do by drilling. One three quater inch hole in the center. Ill make the adjustments tomorrow.
