I have this little saying that goes," most people believe history begins and ends with their lifetime".  I think he's saying something like this.  Human history has always been much the same on a base level but if you're not aware of that you might think you're in a novel situation and attempt to deal with it in unrealistic ways.

I can't see any reason for an organism to consider this as it bears no relation to survival.

What? you got to be kidding.

How so? The way I see it we are not built to survive in current society, like other animals immediate interests come first. So these "novel" situations you speak of only exist in an unhealthy society. Humans naturally have two needs, which are; reasonable levels of comfort and to reproduce, anything superimposed on that is in conflict with the actual desires of the body and is being rejected by it, considering human history counts as something other than that the body is not interested and it causes mental conflict.

If you hate the robot pimping society and it's various minions inflict upon you, they label it SAD.  Just another DISorder.  The robot pimps love ORDER above all when it comes to controlling the masses.  Their sense of play is to create chaos behind the scenes.  The stage hands know what's what but nobody ever trusted those geeks so here we are.

Screwed, blued and tatooed.

I don't hate it, I just think it's in conflict with natural tendencies. It makes perfect sense that an animal wouldn't believe in anything other than it's own lifetime IMO.

Like good con men they tell people what they want to hear.  Why all the concern with the telling?  Very telling I would say.  Tell me about it.  Send me a freaking miracle.  Not a freaking grievance.

All humans are good con men but at times anyone can and will tell the truth.  What is very telling is how you won't cop to what you write.

Somehow you have taken something from this quote that I just don't see.

The quote means to me at least that if you think you are seeing something new you just don't know enough history.

Yes, but I think it's less a case of people thinking they are seeing something new and more a case of people not thinking of it at all, just paying attention to what they perceive as being directly in front of them. Which is natural.

It's that people don't really see anything at all that's the problem. Thinking about things but not directly looking at nature. Direct knowing is an irrational concept but there is truth to it IMO.
