Like i said; it's about authority not dancing. The Government always had to hire people who are more violent, and more willing than the average person in order to keep everyone in line and paying taxes.
If the Government loses it's grip over authority it's not long til it crumbles.
Hiring people to be obedient, no hesitation, violent thugs is one of the main requirements of any authoritarian government.
Once again it is necessary in order to maintain the perception of supreme authority over the people.
you;re supposed to feel like "resistance is futile."

STOP RESISTING!
That's what cops yell as they kick your ass. It makes 'em feel all justified.
In this specific case, "Stop Resisting" is shorthand for: "not only were they dancing, they wouldn't stop when I told them nicely to stop; therefore, it's my duty to kick their asses."
so you have been in a cops mind before? how do you know this?
i respect cops because i dont want to ever get the short end of getting shot when i get my insurance out.
cops arent just on two sides of the law. they are watched in their cars too.

I agree, Mr. Shins. Violence is part of human nature. If the ruling class did not harness and direct the violence, it might be a useless and destuctive thing, or even directed against them. As is, through the good work of police, soldiers, lawyers and politicians, the threat of violence, and actual violence, has the face of a public servant. Of course we're not slaves exactly, but there is some analogy in our society between cops and the wry old African-American put-down, "Head Negro In Charge". Ultimately, our work and the rules we live by serve Master, and our enforcers stupidly accept their slightly privileged position among us.
--- By the way, I'm a Wm Blake fan, myself, so I find it disheartening you, "the human abstract" would subscribe so readily to the idea of might makes right. Do you know the story of Blake and the soldier in his garden?

There's such a contradiction between what you're espousing and your online moniker, that I think maybe you don't even know the poem from which your name originated! Here it is.
The Human Abstract By William Blake Pity would be no more If we did not make somebody Poor; And Mercy no more could be If all were as happy as we.
And mutual fear brings peace, Till the selfish loves increase: Then Cruelty knits a snare, And spreads his baits with care.
He sits down with holy fears, And waters the grounds with tears; Then Humility takes its root Underneath his foot.
Soon spreads the dismal shade Of Mystery over his head; And the Catterpiller and Fly Feed on the Mystery.
And it bears the fruit of Deceit, Ruddy and sweet to eat; And the Raven his nest has made In its thickest shade.
The Gods of the earth and sea Sought thro' Nature to find this Tree; But their search was all in vain: There grows one in the Human Brain. ------------
Note the line, "Humility takes its root/Underneath his foot".
Peace

Actually I think they are right on target as a refutation of some of the free speech absolutist nitwits. There are, however, many many more examples that could be given.

It proves just what I was attempting to prove. First Amendment rights are not absolute.

It kind of is - a little bit though... I dunno. Jail for dancing? Really?
The couple arrested were not annoying anyone....
I can't agree with this arrest. This was a fairly perfect parallel of the "Marijuana Laws". Someone wants to dance - it is "forbidden" - so the public laws force them into jail. Really? Why not just let them dance? WTF?????????????? Why do you have to be sooooooooooooooo annoyed by someone's dancing/smoking, that you would put someone in a cage because they "annoy" you. I would consider someone a "freak" for wanting to "cage" someone.
You think I'm "annoying or weird" for smoking pot? You want to put me in a cage for engaging in nature? Maybe you have the issues?

Of course. But it's not "your property" in question. It was public property...
Let's make a law to arrest all pot smokers on public property. Oh yea, that law already exists... Jail for pot smokers - YAY!

so you are humiliated by facts?
if you dont agree with laws then the norm would be to go somewhere else
not hard watch!!
- get some credit cards
- max on a house
- declare bankruptcy
- move to amsterdam
OR.
if you can get past the law like THOUSANDS do here then do that.

Ok, I understand now. "Thousands" get away with smoking pot. "Hundreds of Thousands" are arrested each year.
You AGREE with arresting pot smokers. You must be a weird one. I don't want anything to do with you. Stay AWAY from me...

A simple "no, I have nothing with which to back up my claim", would have been sufficient.
Thanks for playing.
