Great pics.Wish I was your neighbor. Amazing how aggressive this species is,and at the same time,it seemed to just pop up in the U.S. only a few years back.I wonder how it stayed hidden all these years.I'm guessing it was probably being confused with caerulipes or no one was looking or knew what to look for.So far , to my knowledge, it hasn't been found in N.C.(unless maybe in the mountains) but I think it's possible it would or could grow here. Thanks for the link to the pdf file.I have some weilii and lute prints I may have to try out using those techniques.I need to find somewhere to get sporeprints of the ovoids and caerulipes also, to add to my collection. Again,AMAZING pictures. Thanks for posting them.

That's a good question.

I would bet that you can find Ovoids in N.C. Most likely in the eastern slopes of the Appalachians, near rivers and creeks.

hey man, there a hiking/walking trail here by bern, dentenburg, was wondering if i could inoculate the woodchips that are used for the trail, barely anyone ever passes through there so there shouldnt be much of a problem, but i was thinking that maybe i could take some of the woodchips, make cakes and inoculate that way, and then spawn using those cakes. btw i'm planning on doing psilocybe azurescens.

I am sure they're is many more undiscovered Psilocybin-containing mushrooms just waiting to be discovered!

You can use the wood chips from the trail, but the chips must be saturated with water and pasteurized before inoculation.
I recommend Psilocybe cyanescens and Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata. Psilocybe azurescens is a tricky and stubborn species.

I have never found morels at that place before. But the morel is not the only intruder. Beside the morel Coprinus micaceus and Lepiota cristata are present in the patch.

Is it a woodchip morel or a tree root morel?
If it is a woodchip morel please save some tissue for cloning/cultivation.
Either way, I would like to sequence it. PM me if you still have a little bit of it.

Nice to see the introduced species co-existing in harmony with several natives species after the query on 'bio-invasion'.

Let me get this straight: you cultivated Ovoids five years ago, fruited them outdoors, and now they've spread without any further help from you? Wondering if these could be introduced further north, like in Scandinavia. The pictures are stunning. Pure X-rated stuff. This thread is a hit.
