Last I heard 16 people had been dead, and it was already spreading to the USA.
Afterwards contamination can be airborne.

I was reading about this and it looks like transmission from human to human will only happen if the infected human has a poor hygiene

I mean, for what it's worth, the nasty strains of e. coli have always killed people.
I had always thought e. coli was just like... food poisoning. Get sick, shit brains, get better.
As it turns out you shit blood for two weeks, and in like... 1% of cases of the old strains, it went apeshit on you and trashed your sweet sweet organs.
Apparently this is waaaay more common with this strain.
I'm really skeptical of any mention of airborne transmission.
