It's previously been cleared up that the title and video are two separate ideas with no correlation.  You should be able to dance (respectfully without disturbing your fellow citizens) where you please.  Protesting is protesting, if you feel differently then go ahead with your bad self but suffer the consequences.

yes, he can read, but you can't talk.  consequently, nobody has any idea wtf you're trying to convey.  i still dont' quite know what your stance is - just that you're disagreeing with me and cant' seem to grasp anything anyone is telling you.

your economy thread in polit discussion is the same way.  you haven't made a post in there yet that hasn't been easily refuted and shown to be silly.

i will say that the man they put in handcuffs is a liar first and foremost, he had a warning and for no reason claims to not have recieved one, directly on camera, makes him look like a fool

i dont understand why the foolish granola, hippie, hipsters lie on camera, it completely defeats their entire point and makes them look like total douches, fuck that entire situation.

i see two groups of extreme douchebags being themselves, end argument

Can you do that?  There must be some law in place to protect my reputation!

Seriously, though, do you say that for a specific reason?

Immature, disrespectful, defiant, assholes: I'm not going to argue with any of that.  I don't think any of those things warrant arrest.

haven't read the thread but the people who were originally dancing there and got arrested weren't protesting, but celebrating thomas jefferson's birthday. the protest dance was a response to the dc circuit court's decision
Quote:

it was “satisfied that the [Park Service’s] Regulations give fair notice that expressive dancing is prohibited inside the Jefferson Memorial and special events may be held only pursuant to a permit.”

it also said the first amendment doesn't apply because the memorial is a non public forum and that
Quote:

the government is free to establish venues for the expression of its viewpoint and “it is not obligated to allow other monuments expressing other viewpoints.”

kind of screwy that the government can suppress free speech in a public place.

also kind of strange you can't protest there but the supreme court ruled you can protest funerals

Nearly brought tears to my eyes. Dont worry though, deep down those sick fucks have no hope. Doomed to walk hell for 10 lifetimes. All the while inching their way to a slow and miserable/well deserved grave. Look at the over weight fucks, or the little boy who tries so hard to please the other ranking authority figures as he gets his mild high of screaming "STOP RESISTING". Ignorant that someday he will be just as fat and miserable as the original officer.

They will drink their alcohol, they will eat their prozac, they will turn on the news, order a pizza. And spend another night killing their souls all the while wondering why the void in them is not being filled. Growing more miserable with each passing day, walking the brink of sanity as they try so hard to fit into a system that has a mind of its own. A mass collection of group think, motivating these individuals.

The problem no longer became the dancing. Once the authority was challenged....it was a personal thing, and the other piggies came to his aid, eager to fill the hole within them with "Abuse of hippies" which they will call "The Law".

Let them spend the night in jail. None of us would want to last 5 min where these fuckers are heading, and they wont even be dead yet :onfire:

The cops just stated that they we warned without saying what law they were breaking.
No one looked upset or pissed over their actions. The cops came in and did all the
breach of peace. Your logic is incredibly flawed.

I think your logic is just as flawed.  These people broke the law, and did so in an attention-grabbing manner.  There were a lot of opportunities to NOT continue with their actions.

obviously we'll just agree to disagree.  because clearly there isn't much progress being made in this debate

The question is should what they are doing be against the law in the first place.
Dancing at a public memorial or any public place aside from a library or some obvious
other places should be completely fine. The cops are the ones who made a situation out
of nothing.

I think you all are missing the point...

Both groups, the protesters and the officers, were in the wrong. Yeah, the protesters should have gotten a permit and shouldn't have resisted. But in the end who caused the most disturbance to the people enjoying the memorial? The officers could have nonviolently removed the protesters instead of making themselves look bad and causing a huge uproar over a little dancing. Also, what does ordering everyone else out of the memorial solve?

In my opinion, the officers could have handled it much better than they did. They obviously disturbed the peace more than the protesters.

you have the right to be any of those things in the privacy of your own home
yet you're demanding the disrespectful should be respected when doing such in
public areas when in violation of the law. it's not just the attitudes of
these people that resulted in their arrest but also their actions, inactions
and the location they chose to display their attitudes

Damnit DeadHearts I know you're more intelligent than this.  Dancing is perfectly legal.  I could go to any graveyard or monument right now and dance my heart out.

Showing up with a group of people to dance in protest of a policy/institution/party with the PURPOSE of making a scene while bringing cameras to document the ordeal means they are no longer dancing, they are protesting, and doing so without a permit is illegal.
