Liquid culture storage 1

I've prepared 250ml of liquid culture using Otto's liquid culture tek. This is actually more than I needed. Now I'm stuck with about 200ml of liquid culture. I don't want to throw this away. What's the best way to store your liquid culture? In the fridge? How long can I keep it?
Thanks for answering!

From what I have read it's best to keep them in a fridge. That way they do not colonize

I let my LC sit for about 1-2 weeks after I test, then I place in the fridge. Make sure to mix the LC once a week while it's in the fridge to prevent contams. I've used LC so far 5 months old that still works fine

???
You certainly meant:
"Leave the LC alone after it is in the fridge to avoid contaminating it by touching"?

Why in the world would you get a dormant sterile culture out of cold storage and wave it around in room air?
Makes no sense at all.

I read somewhere to swirl the LC every once in a while to prevent the contams. And I don't just wave it around in room air, I leave it in my fridge and just swirl it for a sec, I don't warm it up and agitate the hell outta it....
And like I said, I havn't had any issues with my cultures from doing this, so I figured that this is how i'm supposed to take care of them

I could see doing that once or twice to promote thorough colonization, but every time you mess with it you risk contamination.
@ op, They should last a while. I am currently fruiting some that were inoculated from a 6 month old LC. I wouldn't be surprised to hear 1-3 years.

Thanks for the answers. But I do have a remark on your swirling. It is true that you do need to swirl or agitate your LQ's, but only during colonization. This prevents the mycelium from clumping and it stimulates growth. But there is no reason to do this during storage. Your LQ is cooled and so there will be no more growth or clumping. Just shake it up before use. These are just my thoughts and not necessarily the truth. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, what works, works. I'm glad for you. It's just an unnecessary risk IMO

I put my culture in the fridge. What do I need to do when I want to reuse it? Let it warm up to room temperature again or just inject it cold?

Let it warm up for 2 days a day to warm up and a day to recover
