Pictures need to be a much better resolution than that.

What do you mean? Click them to enlarge. They're fine.
If you don't know, please don't comment. As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with my ID request.

I did click them. It takes you to photobucket pictures of the same resolution and when you click on those, nothing happens.

Okay, so I got the big pictures by clicking "get URLs" and then copy and pasting the "direct link".
I think it may be Lyophyllum decastes.

Do they often grow from wooden skewers?

Thanks for your guess. I found similar mushrooms last year in a nearby location, though they were slightly lighter in color, and possibly less mature. That was the same species I was able to narrow it down to.
Funny, they are referred to as the 'Fried-chicken Mushroom'. I thought they smelled a little like chicken.
Anyone think they are worth a try at consumption?

It means the images don't hotlink, possibly causing errors and delays in loading.
No, I think you were just trying to help. And I believe you did!
I will collect more specimens tomorrow. Most likely they will be eaten.

So what was all the "If you don't know, please don't comment" all about?
You really should listen when someone is trying to help and check the facts before insulting them.
I wouldn't trust my ID, btw. I'm not a TI.

Lyophyllum decastes sounds like a pretty good match.
I always like habitat shots. Because they're pretty, but also because they give some hints regarding the ecology of a species. Maybe next time?
