It may be focused around phenethylamines but it presents some experiments where MAOIs attenuated a trip caused of tryptamines. It supports that the elevated serotonine levels in the brain following a MAOI administration might interfere with the tryptamines antagonistic effects on some 5HT receptors. Empirical knowledge shows that taking peganum harmala alkaloids (syrian rue) 10-30 minutes before consuming the fungus leads to increased effects.Has anyone heard of someone dosing with MAOIs AFTER they took the mushroom?
I am thinking that this method of ingestion could be preffered: The psilocybin would have time to bind on the receptors adequatelly and following administration of the MAOI (10-30 mins after the fungus is consumed) could just help psilocybin levels to remain high in the body. This way serotonin wouldnt have much time to accumulate and possibly attenuate the trip. One point which the article fails to elucidate is if the MAOI was taken as a single dose (at the tryptamine part of the study) or as a part of a daily regiment...
THeories, experiences and speculations are highly appreciated
well, when taking rue with mushies, I trip for an extremely long 8-10 hours, with a comedown thats even longer. If I took syrian rue during a mushroom trip it would make last probably another 8 hours after i took the rue.
I don't think seratonin builds up after consuming rue though, it just stays at the current level, especially if you have been fasting for some time before the trip (because you get seratonin from breaking down the amino acid typtophan if i remember correctly).
