todays finds :-)
    #14556574 - 06/03/11 05:08 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

The valley is popping mushrooms everywhere

panaeolus castaneifolius?

I'm sure there is bound to be a few subbs in here somewhere.

Not sure about this one

Habitat:
growing in sphagnum moss.

Gills:
gill color is light brown not attached.

Stem:
3 inches, hairy/scaly, thick, enlarged toward base.

Cap:
size of a quarter. dark brown in color, texture is smooth besides hairy stuff. spherical, convex.

Spore print color:
in progress

Bruising:
enlarged base has bruised a light blueish green.

Other information:
I was thinking this may be some kind of a bluing entoloma:confused:

Panaeolina foenisecii.

I am not sure that taxon actually exists, and I don't see a good reason to apply that name to your collection.

Ummm.. probably not. You are going to have to print each and every single one of those and it seems like you already are going about it sloppily. If you found any P. subbs how, at this point, do you plan on even determining where they came from? Unless you picked all of those from one location, in which case the chances of there being any Subbs is even less likely..

I am going to print all of them. You say I have done a sloppy job but not given me any suggestion on how to do it better? Was it meant to be an insult or just criticism?

I found them around 650 feet less then 100 feet from a river. They were growing from a shaded mossy mound area (I think it was sphagnum moss). under a mix of alders and Douglas fir trees. There was a couple of bushes near by but nothing comes to mind as to what they are. There was a couple of hydrocybe and a patch of mycena near them but not right next to them.

Do you think it would be safe to eat it? I understand that some inocybe are active but this species is not listed in psilocybe muchrooms of the world.

Can anyone tell me if these are psilocybin? They've got signs, but i'm not certain. They were found on an old rotted stump. Growing on it and inside it on top of moss. Really shady area, outside of Olympia. Any help would be enjoyed.

Nah, they're all P. foes. They can vary in appearance quite a bit - especially between younger and older specimen.

I think Oreganic was right about them being mostly foes.
Here is the spore print picture, I think i ended up with 4 subbs and 100's of foes. It might be a better idea to check gill color in the field then take home a bunch of foes.
