Washing off deodorant

Does anyone else have a problem with washing off deodorant in the shower? I wash my arm pits in the shower and then the deodorant gets on my hands and then I can feel the used deodorant sticking to my hands. It sucks because I put in my contacts after I shower, so I have to wash my hands extra hard at the end of the shower so that I don't spread the used deodorant to my contacts and then my eye balls!

No, Old Spice washes off no problem, actually most of it is rubbed off and washed out by sweat by the time I shower usually.
Is it just D/O or also anti-persperant?

I am confused. You don't use a wash cloth, a body scrubber, or at least the bar of soap?
I rub the bar of soap under my armpit. I assume any deodorant/antiperspirant gets on it. I never really noticed this as a problem.
Although if I shower soon after putting on DO/AP, I can't really get it off. My armpits stay bone dry even while rubbing them with soap and running shower water over them. This is a different problem though.

Body scrubbers and washcloths are like little bacteria farms. If you enjoy using them, fine, but don't think that its any cleaner than using good ol' handies. For me, its not worth the hassle, and nothing beats soapy skin on skin

Sorry everyone, I should have clarified. I use Gillette. Not because that's the name of an all time Shroomery great. That's just a delightful coincidence. And I take the soap and lather it up really good and then plop a big handful of soap on my pit. The pit gets clean, but then the hand takes extra washing to get clean.

Are you using Deodorant or Anti-perspirant? I could see the latter being harder to wash off since it's designed to penetrate in and clog up your sweat glands. That's also why I don't use it.

It's Gillette and it says anti-perspirant/deodorant. And I've just been using it for years and I don't feel like switching. I get the feeling that the difficulty of getting it off is a side effect of it's great ability to stay on and stay working all day.

It works by aluminum ions going into your sweat gland cells and bringing in water with them so that they eventually swell shut. If you sweat a lot I can see why you'd be into it. I don't sweat excessively and I don't like the idea of aluminum ions clogging my sweat glands shut so I only use deodorant, not antiperspirant.

Right guard gel is what I use and I don't have a problem unless I just applied it. Gillette is what I used to use but it doesn't work as good for me.
Other stuff has wrecked my shirts and made the pits hard even after many washes Pisses me off.

Yeah actually now that I think of it, I know just what you're talking about. That antiperspirant stuff does get on your hands and makes them feel all wierd. I stopped using A/P years ago for fear of health effects, and really only use D/O when I'm trying to make a good impression on someone

Whats the point of hygene at all then? I've just read studies that suggest using hands is actually more effective than other methods, and since its what I do already I kept on washing with my hands. I doubt it would have made me stop if I really got off on the loofa like some do, but like I said, I enjoy caressing myself.

Highly suggest looking into this stuff...No aluminum, no ruined shirts, washes off easily, uses aloe and hops. Been using it for about a year now and will continue to forever.
Not to mention Tom's of Maine is a pretty decent "green" business in todays world . I use several of their products.

I hate washing it off so much that it's making me not even wanna use it.
I don't sweat that much, and everyone that's been close enough to me to smell it has said that they liked how I stank

Then again, I use a loofah and body wash. How gay!

I have to chime in.
Usually I use a spray on.
But I have this stick of Axe deodorant that I hate using. When I put it on it smells great and really works through the whole day. BUT! When I get in the shower and bathe I can feel like this film all over my arm pit hair and my hands and it will not come off! After I'm even out of the shower and dried off there is this sticky film all throughout my arm pit hair and it just doesn't go away until after like 2 days of stopping using the product. I feel your pain Learyfan.. I myself have wondered if I am the only one who experiences this phenomenon.

When it comes down to it, as long as you don't smell putrid like trash or tuna that has been sitting in the sun I don't mind body odor...
I know I've said it around here before but I actually find some people's body odor to be pleasant, both dudes and chicks but some ladies have a very attractive natural body odor. Usually people that have a healthy diet and shower at least somewhat regularly.
I only dabble on my deoderant here & there and very lightly, I like my smell . And since it's just lavendar, aloe and hops it doesn't cover it up with some artificial aroma, just keeps it from stankin' to bad but "my smell" still comes through just a bit if you are close enough to me....

was gonna post this but you beat me to it.
unfortunately lots of people think tom's is bunk because their armpits are used to aluminum based deodorants and aren't willing to give their sweat glands time to adjust so they just think that it doesn't work. after you've been using it a while it works great.
