Ultra Simple Winecap Tek! *Update with Pics*

Well, i wanted to see just HOW prolific winecap myc can be. i also wanted to see just how easy it could be to let them grow themselves and start a patch in my back yard.
so here goes.
1. get a few pieces of already inoculated woodchips and pieces of stem/cap of wine caps from your already located spot
2. Boil Water
3. get some wood chips and pour the boiling water on them. cover and let it sit over night and absorb the water.
4. strain the woodchips and shove em in a plastic bag with the inoculated woodchips and pieces of mushroom and zip it up for about 3 days
5. put them in a dark place and check them and open the bag every day. and presto chango your woodchips get knocked up!!
think it will breed success??

I'd like to wish it would, but you'll probably grow more mold than wine caps. I'd dig a little hole in a shady spot outside. The problem is you are trying a non-sterile technique in a sterile invironment. All of the bacteria/ fungus outside keep each other in check

It could work.
How do you know the woodchips you picked have only wine cap mycelium?
I would try the cardboard tek next time.
Keep us updated.

Don't boil, pasteurize at 160-170, and add dirt from where the woodchips are. I also wouldn't keep it in a sealed container, let it breathe.

Why would that not work? It would definitely work, no problem, as long as you give the mycelium some air every now and then.

How long has it been going, and can you repeat it? I've had problems with mold contamination when using sealed containers.

ya your golden . i would put it outside and get it out of that bag.
i made a new patch a few weeks ago just by taking some small chunks and some some bug attacked specimens from the back yard, mixxed it up with some of my new oak chips ( scored a huge mountain this spring for free! ) and now its already going nuts!! this shits fool proof .

Ya looks good, but you're tempting the green if you leave it too long in the bag.

about 3 weeks!
its amazing the possibilities that may be undiscovered if we arent too worried about contams. i took a chance cus i had nothing to lose. i payed nothing but pennies for a plastic bag and some tap water. and man these things fruit. no contams! happy myc!
im thinking of introducing them into my leaves for compost and in my garden bed which is all sheet mulched. psylo/ anyone else what do you think? then i will be a symbiotic plant-mushroom cultivator!

ya they will eat up leaves too but you gotta have that solid base of woodchip spawn. so get some more chips and let them go. its good to give them a path because they are always wanting to consume more fresh substrate. stamets calls it running with it and it is like that. so make a long patch, plant it on one end and give it somewhere to go.
and i i said, get it outa that bag and outside. the fresh air will do wonders.
