Gary Johnson Excluded from June 13 CNN Debate
Quote:
The second GOP presidential debate will not include one of the candidates who participated in the first. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson will not be allowed to participate in the June 13 debate in New Hampshire hosted by CNN, the New Hampshire Union Leader and WMUR.
The seven hopefuls on stage that night will include former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, businessman Herman Cain, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, all of whom participated in the first debate of the season in Greenville, S.C . which aired on Fox News on May 5.
There will be three debate newcomers, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. CNN says invitations were also sent to former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Sarah Palin, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. Huntsman, Palin and Giuliani declined to attend, and Huckabee, Trump and Daniels have now announced they will not run.
Johnson participated in the May 5 debate, but was not invited to participate in the New Hampshire debate. A source in the Johnson campaign tells Fox News, "No reason was given, other than being told by CNN before this morning's announcement that they would be applying ‘objective criteria'. Otherwise, we have heard nothing other than the announcement of who would be participating."
On their website CNN lists the "objective criteria" for participation in the New Hampshire debate as follows:
"1. A candidate must have received an average of at least 2.00 % in at least three national polls released between April 1 and April 30 that were conducted by the following: ABC, AP, Bloomberg, CBS, CNN, FOX, Gallup, Los Angeles Times, Marist, McClatchy, NBC, Newsweek, Pew, Quinnipiac, Reuters, USA Today and Time.
2. A candidate must have received an average of at least 2.00 % in at least three national polls released between May 1 and May 31 that were conducted by the following: ABC, AP, Bloomberg, CBS, CNN, FOX, Gallup, Los Angeles Times, Marist, McClatchy, NBC, Newsweek, Pew, Quinnipiac, Reuters, USA Today and Time.
3. A candidate must have received an average of at least 2.00 % in polls of New Hampshire voters conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center released between May 1 and May 31."
Johnson, whose strategy focuses heavily on New Hampshire where his libertarian-leaning philosophy stands a better chance than in other early states like Iowa or South Carolina.
"I respect the right of CNN and the other sponsors of the June 13 New Hampshire Republican presidential primary debate to apply their own criteria and invite who they choose," Johnson's campaign said in a statement released Friday. "What will be missing is the voice of those who hold an undiluted view of individual liberty..." he continued.
"I sympathize with the millions of Americans whose beliefs will not be on display in Manchester on June 13."

I agree at least they are giving Ron Paul a chance because they usually do everything possible to make him look bad on the news. I mean CNN and Fox news are always trying to make Ron Paul look bad just because he has views that seem far fetched to some but at home to others. If Ron Paul was president in 2012 we could set back and relax a while knowing our civil liberties and privacy will not be tampered with while he is in office. I know the economy is bad but our civil liberties and 4Th amendment is in greater danger (my opinion). With out personal freedom what good is money? I hope the people that are voting for Gary Johnson will see that he doesn't have a chance and think about voting for Ron Paul this will give us a bigger chance of winning the GOP. Amen? or no chance at all?
jRemeber all of the other people you vote for are liars just look at their voting records. Also like Ronald Reagan it took him three tries and I think that's what it will take for Ron Paul.
Ron Paul for president 2012- Lets us join together for a true freedom. "You have only tasted a little bit of freedom wait until you are totally free"-Ron Paul

I've said it before: If Ron Paul wins the REpublican nomination I WILL go register Republican and vote for him even though I think the whole thing is a sham and against freedom and I even disagree with some things that Ron Paul says.
But overall he's like 90% golden.

Ron Paul a sham against freedom? Nah.
Btw, you only have to register republican to vote for him in the primaries which is where it really matters. If he were elected, you wouldn't need to pick a party, just register to vote and pick Ron Paul. I would beg you to register republican now and vote for him in your local primaries.

I know it's tough, it took me a while to do it too but as you seem to already be aware of, it's the same bullshit just a different pile with dem vs rep. Except good ole Ron Paul.

I lost my right to vote when I was busted with dried flowers many many years ago. I urge anyone that still has the right to vote to get out and do it.

Gary Johnson will attract a lot of centrist left voters. If Ron Paul was the candidate, Gary Johnson might be a good choice for VP. This wouldn't sit very well with the 'Family Values Right' though.

The fact they are having Bachmann participate and invited Palin and not Johnson is a sham. Really a testament to how flawed our electoral system is.

it's flawed that the media is seemingly our only direct link to political information. media companies have vested interest in the status quo

I love ron Paul but if he actually won, I would get sketched out and question his true integrity. That's how flawed I believe our ELECTRONIC voting system is.
Any computer programmer familiar with the electronic voting systems setup will verify how simple it would be to rig it 51/49 in favor of one candidate.
Not like democracy is fair in the first place. All they'd have to do is brainwash the masses to be dumb drug-hatin conservative fucks and give em a choice between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul and the rest is history.

I lost my right to vote. Then three years ago my state restored voting rights to felons which gave gave me a chance to vote again. Super D are you sure that your not in a state that restores voting rights?

Reminds me of the DieBold expose by Princeton.
Interesting because DieBold makes ATM's as well. I bet you couldn't pick a DieBold ATM lock at all, let alone in 10 seconds.
