I'm just wondering if magic mushrooms increase their potency level in higher altitude. I know marijuana yield are optimal between 600-900m and with altitude potency increases. Also aromatic plants and cocaine are stronger. Does anybody know that mushrooms do the same????

I don't think so. But I don't have proof.

As far as I understand, the only reason that cannabis is more potent in higher altitudes is because of less air molecules to scatter UV-B radiation - meaning that the only plants the added altitude impacts are those grown outdoors. The UV-B causes a response action from the plant to produce more trichomes, which shield it from the potentially damaging light - somewhat like if you step outside for a while and get a tan.
I know nothing about cocaine or other drugs' potency levels increasing, but I'm not sure that subjecting mycelium to UV-B will do anything but damage its genetics (or, if doing it in a controlled way, produce new strains like Penis Envy and Albinos.)

thank you very much for the information. I know about the UV theory but so far its not confirmed. I just do hope that I'm in higher altitude and I achieve higher yield or potency . So far i did not get any information about indoor growing in higher altitude.

The main concern that I had with higher altitude growing was that I needed to increase my pressure cooking times (for grains, especially.) With less ambient pressure, the steam in the PC was a few degrees cooler than that of a PC at sea level.
I was at around 1830m elevation, and cooked my grains for 90-100 minutes at around 18PSIG (124 kPa.)

This is correct. It has no effect on fungi grown indoors. To the OP, the word you're looking for is elevation, not altitude. RR

Yep, that's true for both of us - we were both using the word incorrectly.

Yeah, I routinely add 15-30 minutes to PC times.
