I'd bet this is why humans are so blind to global warming and other future threats etc. the human organism isn't really made to function in large tribe that has such a profound effect on the environment.
On a hunter gatherer level the effect you describe is a very useful and positive trait.

Humans aren't "made" to do anything. They are just the result of certain animals being better at reproducing than others. Our move into such a large "society" has increased our ability to reproduce, and gives us the possibility of colonizing other planets, therefore making it beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint.

Humanity could go extinct tomorrow due to unforeseen influences. We can't know the future of our evolutionary history at all.

Sure they are, for instance they are made to survive on earth and not mars, on land and not sea, etc. etc. they conform to their natural environment, humans have had a change in lifestyle so it'll take them awhile to learn to function harmoniously in their new environment.

You obviously don't understand how evolution works. Nothing is "made" for anything. All Evolution means is that animals better at reproduction pass on more genes than other animals in their species. Overtime this causes more and more distinct DNA from the parent species, until eventually a new species is formed. Humans can reproduce now better than they could in hunter gatherer societies. If you insist on incorrectly using the term "made", humans are made for their current society more so than past societies.

I thought it was pretty clear I was being loose, I know they are not specifically made for it otherwise I'd be religious. To change the phrase for you the human organisms characteristics conform to their environment.

No quite true, there is also the factor of the animal who is able to survive, if animals are not able to survive long term within their environment then no matter how fast they can reproduce they will be wiped out.

Considering that very soon there will be very few humans living on earth due to the actions of humanity, it seems to me that they have not functioned well at all. If you count evolutionary success purely on current numbers rather than sustainability then you are right but I don't think it's correct to do so.
Fourthly, I think you have completely misunderstood where I'm coming from. In tribal society it is useful because it prevents men from being as scared of hunting. In a large society it is not useful because it prevents men from being scared of fighting large wars and sending others to fight large wars.
Now maybe you could make the argument that war is beneficial to survival and growth somehow (certainly not sustainability though), but this means that if humans did not have said assest of not feeling like they are going to die in combat situations there would probably be less war: war is not evolutionarily beneficial.

I understand your feelings but there really is no evidence to assure this. Very soon? Nobody knows that. I thought it was all over in the 70s.
Humans have an uncanny ability to hang in there and the earth has that in spades. In a thousand years people might still be saying it's about over for our species.
Or, of course, it might start to really fall apart tomorrow.

No I have no evidence for that, although I think it's highly likely for a number of reasons. I think I remember seeing somewhere that according to official weather predicitions China and India will be arid deserts by 2060. Perhaps you can say there is no proof this is humanity's fault though.

First of all, a species' ability to survive until it can reproduce is part of its ability to reproduce.
Also, please explain to me how you know that not many humans will be here soon.

As to your first point, yes that's basically what I was saying.
Second point; I'm too lazy to list all the reasons, ultimately I don't, it's just speculation.
