Volcanic soil
    #14546276 - 06/01/11 03:14 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

So my friend has pointed out a place I can gather volcanic soil. I believe it is called loess, but it's all Greek to me. Super nutritious and full of minerals as I guess Idaho is on a bathalith (or is one, rocks isn't my forte). I know it's amazing for veggies, but was curious if anyone has used it for cacti or other entheogenic plants. I plan on experimenting with a few plants I have (seedlings) but am curious if anyone has experience.

I challenge you to challenge yourself more! When you feel complacent and ready to hang it up, challenge yourself to get over it! If you fail, don't look at it as you didn't succeed, look at it as you would a rock face you're trying to climb. Stand back, wayyyy back, and look at it and plot another path. If you can't find one, shuffle down the way a little, a little change of scenery or a view from a different angle may give you the insight you need.

I'm sure there's a few, plenty of sandstone as well. I'll ask my buddy where they'd be and can get ya some if need be.

I do it by eye, sorry.
Mix perlite until coir until it looks right, then mix in screened limestone soil until that looks right.
That's how I do it. I'm sure there's recipes out there.

I'll have to do that! Right now I've got some seedlings in MG cactus soil with extra perlite, and coir and perlite, and some MG with sand, gravel, and perlite, but it has become super dense so it'll be getting ammended with the black soil once I gather it.

Coir/perlite/limestone is incredibly airy, it's amazing stuff.
