Us and Them

Just thought I'd throw it out there. If you are into Pink Floyd or even if you're not for that matter: The song "Us and Them" is an effing GREAT song to listen to tripping. It came on when I was tripping this weekend, and since I forgot I put it on there, I thought it was Shine on You Crazy Diamond till the main lyrics came in.
Anyways, that main drop line that occurs a few times in the song (the dun dunn DUNNNNNNN)of the piano hit me like a ton of bricks. I was all smiles. The sax solo is also pretty gnarly.
Just a lil tip I'm feeling generous today

Hell yeah bro. Pink Floyd is the shit, one of my all time favorites. I know I will never get tired of them.
I listened to the entire live Pulse album on 2 hits of strong LSD this past weekend, an incredibly beautiful experience. The words took on new meaning, in many ways it was as if I was hearing the album for the first time. Magical stuff..

Definitely. Pink Floyd has opened the doors of heaven to me, especially the last few songs on Dark Side of the Moon and the last few on The Final Cut album. Deep, brilliant, and downright beautiful music that lends itself so well to the raw emotional mindscape of a trip. I've listened to Us and Them and had a face-to-face understanding of those dividing lines that separate us, and dealt with the paradox that they may not even exist at all. They're an interesting band with layered meanings and incredible depth.
There's a good reason why so many psychonauts are drawn to Pink Floyd. They're often the perfect soundtrack to a trip.

Can some of you guys recommend some good PF songs? I've got the albums The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon.
Maybe not even specific songs, albums work fine too. I'm looking to broaden my Pink Floyd horizons a bit.

Love Pulse... Total music... Just complete.... Engulfing sound
Dark side... Just Awesome... So are The Wall, Animals, Wish you were here, piper at the gates... Interesting history... Early works that set the stage for the great albums... Abbey road studio, Alan parsons involvement....
Sorry things tore them apart... Too bad Syd could not stay with them, but the change was good...

I am a huge fan of Meddle. That album makes me feel happy.
The Final Cut is a different Floyd. Tells a great story. It is sad, angry, poetic, and a great tribute all in one album.
Of course I love the Dark Side of the Moon. I did a college paper on the movie The Wall. So that album always holds a special place in me.
I was never a fan of Syd Barrett Floyd, but thats just my opinion. Any song with Gilmour jamming on the guitar is gonna be great...

Meddle (especially the 28 minute long 'echoes' and Dark Side (for the 2nd half of a trip after the peak.)
For me the Wall is too dark and melodramatic, though I loved it and way overplayed when I was in my teens and 20s. Also quite a few really good selections from their early days - first 3 albums or so as well as the sound track to More and Obscured By Clouds.

Oh, how I love this thread.
"Us And Them" is basically my DMT blast off song. That and "Any Colour You Like" have been my favorites for when I venture with DMT (and most other psychedelics).

Sorry if I'm crazy, as I haven't quite had my first prolonged trip, but I would imagine that Blockhead would be great to trip to.
P.S: Kudos to whoever has the deer in his sig.

My first ever mushroom trip was entirely shaped and informed by Dark Side of the Moon. It was fantastic! I know this is not the concept behind album, but I felt like entire CD was a description of the birth of a child.Starting with heart beat at intro, this represented heart beat of a child in the womb. The themes that crop up throughout the album are about very general aspects of life - Money, our own mortality, Insanity etc. I felt like these were words of advice a parent may impart to their children or things children will eventually learn about the world. Great Gig in the Sky was breath-taking.Clare Torry's singing starts out like a lullaby and then escalates into a song of almost agony and I could interpret this to be a woman in labour. I know this song is about death essentially, but the expression "God never closed one door without opening another" and some poeple's belief that when a person dies, a child is born, creates a beautiful fusion of death and creation in this song. I basically hit my peak when this song started and honestly, it felt like I was being born.
Pink Floyd are amazing.
