What are some awesome foods (cheap, preferably) to recover from a long day of hard work? Maybe foods that help with muscle recovery?

Lean meats, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats.
Really I found it was cheaper to buy healthier foods than processed garabage. Pasta, rice, and potatoes are way cheaper and last alot longer than their processed equivelants. Meat is not always so cheap but if you scout out a decent store to buy it at you should be alright. I usually buy chuck steaks, thick pork chops, chicken breasts, and assorted fish fillets. As far as fats go - peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, flaxseed oil, cheese, milk.
NACHOS!!! MMMM
p.s. 10 bucks can get you a pack of cheap steaks or porkchops and a bag of rice, potatos or pasta. Go for it.

Egg whites, organic grass fed beef, and chicken breast.
Also, red wine promotes muscle fiber healing and decreases inflammation.

FAIL!!
Grass fed beef is the shit, but chicken breasts and eggs whites are FAIL!
Foods are meant to be in their WHOLE FORM. You need all the fats, vitamins and minerals in the egg yolk to properly assimilate the proteins. Furthermore, eating only egg whites can lead to a biotin deficiency (since egg whites leach out biotin, and guess what, yolks are full of it!). Furthermore, the cholesterol in the yolk is also essential to building muscle.
As for chicken breasts, another fail. Buying chicken breast is terrible money wise and nutrition wise. You want the fat on the chicken (more calories for your money!). Instead buy a whole chicken, cook it all and then you can make stock out of the carcass, or something out of the giblets.
I recommend eating quinoa for carbs (more protein and minerals than any other carb loading foods), as well as sweet potatoes or squash.
Check out www.marksdailyapple.com for some good dietary advice.
But for cost wise, it is always better to buy whole foods like an entire chicken then single parts.
-------------------- "A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." Albert Einstein
