Cubes on wood

I found a cube collection in a garden bed. They were growing on wood though, shouldn't be there but they were. The look like a cube, blue like a cube, spore like a cube, taste and trip like a cube. I have cloned them and are now growing in a grain jar. Should I spawn to wood? or poo?

If they'r coming up in wood, chances are they'r not psilocybe cubensis. Perhaps they'r a wood-loving specie of psilocybe such as, Azures, Cyanofriscosas, Subs., PS Cyans, ect..

They will grow on wood/woodchips/mulch. They prefer what the prefer, but they will grow on wood chips/much.
Drop some spent substrate under a layer of mulch in a flower bed. It will spread a few inches a week. It is not prolific, but it does happen.
Coir has lignin and cellulose similar to wood, so why would P. Cubensis discriminate when given nothing else to eat?
RR has got some pics of them growing on wood.

A block of substrate covered with bark mulch is one thing, a wild patch growing in wood is another matter. I'm not convinced it was cubensis.

Yes. Very, very poorly with tiny little stunted fruits. Cubes are not wood decomposers. RR

They won't, but I think were talking about a naturally occurring bed, in which case, I'm not sure if cube spores'll even germinate wood or straw.
Cubesis mycelium is introduced to coir by human intervention and is the only way cube myce has a chance to colonize a material that doesn't come about naturally but has to be processed to become a product.

It is possible someone "planted" it there.

I'm almost certain the mushrooms in question are Psilocybe subaeruginosa, but we'll know for sure if OP posts some pictures.

This is leaf much, that may have been micturated upon a time or two.
It is not very chemically different than wood.
The top one is a to-go container that used only one tablespoon of spawn to show the viability of tree leafs as a substrate.

I picked them about a month ago. I have done 3 transfers to clean it up so I dunno if I can photograph that exact bunch. There are also ones growing out the front of my house that are the same as far as I can tell, growing on wood. All the locals around here are wood lovers that look like cubes. I'll try get some photos and post.
Ill spawn to wood first then, never tried so good experiment. Just need to find some sawdust

Leaf mulch is nothing like wood. We compost leaves and they're an excellent substrate. RR

wait. is it at all possible that it is psilocybe mammillata?? i know it is a long shot and it's never been reported there, but it might be worth a thought. was it growing directly from the wood or the soil in and around the wood? sorry, have been obsessed with mammillata for a minute now. take pictures please.??
peace and love bloodworm

my guess is cubes. but the substrate just has wood on top of it. or even some woodchips in it.
but that does not mean that ps. cubensis is fruiting off of the wood.

The lizard king strain was reportedly found growing on wood.
"Low and behold though, I step out of the truck and there sits a fat cluster of three large cubies. The thing is, they were growing from freaking wood chips!!!! I am sure there is horse shit burried under those chips somewhere, but the mycelium was actually growing in the woodchips, no dung visible at all, and I even dug a little. This has got to be the stragest of places I have ever found, or ever will find a cubie. I couldn't f*#&ing belive it!!"

The myc was growing all over the wood chips and was friuting off the wood. I can't get photos, the patch isn't growing atm. So I'll spawn to woodchips and try fruit off that then take some photos for ID. Should I be cold shocking or anything?
