Hey Inski, Im amazed I could show you something that even YOU haven't seen yet .
I would be glad to provide additional photos from the same site as well as more photos and details of the wood the next time I go, for the benefit of knowledge.

Yeah this really confused me how that can vary so much. According to Xthrx though, the sectoid shaped cap on P.subs is determined by the health of the mycelium somehow and that these are regular subs I am finding and not P.subsectoids,
oh yeah, im pretty sure the last one is Inski's new Species, those aroelbences I think, picture is a tad shit though

When it comes to mycology I'm always finding things I haven't seen, over half of the fungi in NZ are yet to be described!
For example, yesterday I photographed two collections of Psilocybe subaeruginosa, the first one shows more typical specimens that are similar to yours with the undulated pileus margin, this is not P. "subsecotioides" and is not due to the mycelium being healthy, it is just a phenotypical variation of which there are many in this species.

The second collection I photographed shows a dwarf phenotype, the lamellae are very pale, almost white which can sometimes suggest that there is a very low production of basidiospores, in this case this is not true as is evident under the microscope.
Unlike the specimens in the first image which had a maximum cap diameter of up to 80mm and an overall height of 100mm these dwarf specimens had a maximum cap diameter of only 15mm and an overall height of 35mm, as you can see the gills are very pale which makes for a very pronounced blue staining reaction, the spore production here is normal despite the pale lamellae.
Yes sum0, that is P. "aureoalbescens", that species was also present at the site where I made the above photographs.

Epic. Thank you Inski, Phenotypes eh, thats incredible I am going to start working out the average height and cap diameter of my findings to determine how many variations I can find and if they are significant. I suppose substate composition would be a major factor though, so in order to achieve credible results the specimens must be from the same or similar substate I would imagine not to mention the dozens of other variations in macroscopic feautures which I can't really even identify.
Should have studied mycology

Hey so I am hunting round in CHCH. This is my loot I got last night.
Although they look very similar to some mushies I have seen on here, they haven't bruised blue
Their habitat was off tan woodchips, and they grew together in clumps. Maybe just not active yet?
 My favorite one

Hope this interests you guys. Cheers. Oh feedback would be appreciated

Not active and never will be, all of your mushrooms look to be the same and are a Psathyrella species.
Your second image may show a Coprinellus species but I'm not certain, need more information.

Usually those Psathyrella have very brittle, hollow stems. The baby pins can look very like those of subs, but i guess there are also a lot of other species with pins like subs too..
