Any body agree, if so anyone know a good reliable TEK?
The only reasons I want to build a flow hood are A: My step dad I a master sheet metal worker and HV/AC specialist, and B: I HAVE worked in front of a flow hood (it was called a fume hood) for forensic research (and homework sorta) And from what I know of my procedure it is sound. But any way I'll start with a glove box instead...

Start with a glove box. Like I said in earlier posts I worked inside a glove box for a year, honing my sterile technique, learning valuable lessons about contamination, and eventually progressing to needing a flow hood. I was working with a lot of agar, culture slants and grain to grain transfers. Loading and unloading your GB takes time, keeping my culture collection moving on agar and getting everything into storage started to become a pain. My back started to hurt from spending hours using my GB, this was the time I choose to construct my own hood. If you are sticking to small projects, doing small batches of grain, and only have a few edible cultures in your collection a GB is a more economical solution for the time being.
Baby steps is the way to go, make a good glove box, work with it for a year or two while learning the ins and outs of the hobby as far as sterile technique, procedure and whatnot goes, THEN move onto building a hood. When you start inoculating a lot of grain for edibles, start working with spawn bags, and your edible culture collection grows it will be a lot easier to work with a flow hood, until then save the $$ and buy a good pressure cooker.

So know any teks that explain construction and proper use. Been looking and I have only found some haphazard non glove box methods.
And anyone have a good suggestion for innitiating pins? I mist and fan when the box looks dry.. I don't believe I am keeping my Rh up very well any suggestions?

SAB/GB tek in signature
pin initiation is mainly from evaporating water from the cakes/substrate.
Fan & Mist. Just make sure to keep your RH above 85%.
It's beneficial to dunk for 24 hours but if you're in that big of a rush you can do 12. I think it was Leopardman that did the experiment where he measured how much water was absorbed over 24 hours @ 4 hour increments. just do a search for it, you should find it.

I don't have a hygrometer (can't find one) so how do I go about keeping the Rh up? My FC is about 4 in off A CLEAN floor (bathroom) and seems to hold moisture but only just...

If your fruiting chamber is only 4 in. off the floor you need raise it up at least a couple of feet. Regardless how clean the floor is.
If you want a hygrometer try a cigar shop.

put it a bit higher up on a table as hot+humid air rises & the floor of your bathroom is probably a pretty cool place. Tile doesn't hold heat well, especially when the AC is on in your house.
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Analog-Hygrometer/dp/B0007VWEQA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1306868604&sr=8-5
that's the hygrometer I use. they're great & you can find them for $5 on the
You def. need to get that SGFC up higher.

That's your major problem w/ your RH. Your Fruiting chambers should be 2' off the ground so you can get all the residual heat & RH from your house...You can't use a little table or make a table for them?

It is my understanding that most contaminates fall to the floor and settle. That is why I suggested you raise it up a couple of feet.

My light is the hugest restriction for me with height. Plus my BR is tiny I don't have a lot of space. When I can move stuff I will but unfortunately for now I'm stuck. My FC is now on pint jars so about 6-8 in off the ground when I can move it I will until then I guess I have to supplement my Rh with extra misting and fanning (I have the time thank god)

Plus I am in an upstairs apartment so most of my home's heat comes from the floor anyway... As you said heat rises. As far as the Rh in my house... Don't make me laugh. This states Rh doesn't go over 10% unless it rains or snows.

damn dude that sucks. My house stays between 35%-40% in the winter...summer IDK yet, cuz of the AC being on. I know it's much more when I'm doing my 4 day long PC runs/grain preps...

I just boil water or run the shower in my FC room to make it more humid (I make sure not to spike the temps) other than that mist and fan mist and fan.

with something as simple as a shotgun fc you should not need a hygrometer.
just follow roger rabbit's guide to making it- which I have already seen you did, having posted pics of your fruiting chamber.
you have enough holes, the right size, spaced the correct amount apart. just put 3-4 inches of soaked, strained perlite in the bottome like we talked about and you'll be fine for fresh air exchange (fae) and humidity.
you shouldn't really need a hygrometer anyway. they're more for monotub tweaking and greenhouses.
when your cake fruits, keep an eye on the stem bases. if they get fuzzy with mycelium, add a few more holes for more fae as there is too much humidity. just follow the pf tek to the T and you'll be fine!

5" of soaked perlite is ideal.
