NZ ID thread (third time lucky?)

Ok, after 2 IDs turned out negative I've become pretty apprehensive about my mushroom identification skills (probably a good thing). But this time I think I might be closer to the mark.
I think I've found two amanita muscarias (possibly the formosa variant). Again, dry conditions have left them a lil worse for wear.
Habitat: Roadside, woodchip/dirt substrate + amongst trees/bush.
Stem: White stem, the longer, and more mature looking, one appears to have a skirt two thirds of the way up the stem.
Cap: appear to be reddish in the middle, fading to a kind of yellow color. Both have the white raised bumps on the caps.

The right-hand mushroom in the upper picture is a. muscaria. I'm not so sure about the left one; it does look like an amanita, but it could be a number of other species than a. muscaria.

The red one is Amanita muscaria.
I am not sure what the other one is, don't eat it.
The mushroom you are looking for is Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

Huzzah, finally a succesful find.
Sorry, the photo of the fat one was pretty poor on my part, heres a better one.

Time to read up on what to do with these things. I've found the prep guide on the site, any other advice anyone wants to add?

Eat a small amount at first. You probably won't like them. A lot of people throw up.

I'm thinking of dicing them up and making a tea, could you recommend a good amount to try for a beginner?
Like half the cap of the longer one?

i would recommend you don't eat them. Do some research before you hunt and look for Psilocybe subaeruginosa as Alan said

Come on man, please don't resort to such drastic measures as A.muscarias to get high, that crazy dude XD. Subs most likely grow in multiple areas within a 2km radious from where you live, they are EVERYWHERE, hit up the NZ thread and find that shit holmes

If you think that the so-called "high" that results from the consumption of A. muscaria is in any way comparable to a psilocin/psilocybin high then you are mistaken. There are only a few people that find it pleasant. I certainly am not one of and don't know any people that do, either. I dislike projectile vomiting combined with not tripping at all, that's probably the reason.

I'm not trying at as a substitute for psilocybin, I'm genuinely interested experiencing some mild effects from amanitas at least once.
I've dried and ground up the cap from the first one and made it into a tea, of which i intend to have about half of to get a feel for it and see whether more would be a good thing for me. I certainly have no intention of tripping balls
I certainly do value the input from you guys, but I am definitely approaching it with caution.

Is the one on the left an Amanita rubescens?

That's possible, yes. It crossed my mind as well. Difficult to be sure though.

Damn all you amanita haters! At least tell the man to dry them before consumption!
I lked taking amanitas, its like a weird drunkenness. I also didn't throw up.
I made a tea of dried caps I ordered online. You should read trip reports, particularly the positive ones, from erowid.
You feel relaxed and lazy, but the slightest thing will provoke you to get up and move and it takes NO EFFORT. Even less then normal, which is kinda cool. I also felt mildly euphoric.
Later on I felt really drowsy and passed out at a swiss chalet for like 5 minutes while my friends ate and when I woke up I was WAY more fucked up, a lot more like being drunk and discosiated(sp?).

See where the flaw is? I particularly read the negative ones, because I like a positive surprise better than a negative one anytime. "Wow, they said I'd be all happy and shit now I am having nightmares, sprayshitting my pants and puking my guts out!" is not my type of definition of a fun evening, I tell you what. So if the negative reports seem to be worth taking the risk or if they sound like they were written by a depressed emo, I'll go WTF, down the hatch with it, but if not, I'd rather abstain.
