Agaricus of some sort? smells good. not sure which it could be. and it does have a slight yellowish tinge on the cap. there is not much telltale bruising besides a little off white color. any help would be appreciated. i just started a spore print. the habitat was in mulch under rhododendrons

also have a habitat pic but it says i ran out of space.. doh!

I don't think so, because it has a veil, not a cortina.
I'll be surprised if it's not an Agaricus, Leucoagaricus or Agrocybe.

Agaricus augustus smells of almonds. It's not what you found, but I'm thinking maybe it's an Agaricus, now. Pointless guessing, though. Wait a few days and check the gill colour of a specimen that's growing.

I'd guess Agaricus too.

I think its an Agaricus, dunno which one though.
Is that yellow staining? And can Agrocybe species stain yellow?

Is it me, or is there a curvature in the spore print/gills of that Agaricus?
I've noticed that with every one I've printed/found. No Agrocybe has ever exhibited that gill curvature by my observation.

I'd call them flocculi...but don't quote me on that.

I don't think that's it 'cause I've observed the mentioned phenomenon on my own without touching a thing.
Thanks for the input.

Flocculi sounds much better than the official term 'cogwheel pattern'.
That mushroom looks like an Agaricus I found last summer under a cedar tree. As it bruises slightly yellow and has an almond smell, it belongs to the Arvenses section within the genus Agaricus. As it is not fat enough to be something around A. arvensis and lacks the large scales A. augustus and similar species show, I call it Agaricus silvicola.

thanks mycelio and everyone for your imputs, its really appreciated. i definitely saw the most subtle yellow bruising and it definitely has an almondy smell. it does look similar to A. arvenses and A. silvicola. but not enough! maybe its an east coast variation of a. arvensis which for some reason was yelling out at me. that keys in best but i guess ill never know!
sadly the patch came and went due to the crazy heat and sudden downpour last night!

A silvicola seems like a pretty decent match. my book says anise odor not almond odor tho.
