Bodyweight Exercises
    #14536715 - 05/30/11 04:38 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I have been using this Iron Gym pull up bar (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31HqB5H8j%2BL._SL500_AA300_.jpg) for about a year and a half now as my primary means of exercise.  Basically, the most extreme work out I had set up for myself with this thing was 3 sets of:

25x Pull Ups
25x Push Ups
40x Dips
40x Sit Ups

Nowadays I basically want to die after two sets, so I usually just leave it at that.

I was just wondering if yall think I should continue keeping this up or get a gym membership and start lifting weights?  I'm cut up pretty goddamn well, I figure if I just started focusing on eating a shitload more food and continued doing the Iron Gym exercises I will get some decent results and not have to dish out 300 bucks for a gym membership.

You dont need a gym membership but it can be nice.  Ideally if i had the money id buy a setup for home.  You could always buy a few weights + a weight belt.  Strap like a 45lb weight to the belt and do your dips/pull ups and pushups.  As far as abs go, you could do planks with a 45lb weight on your back.

Body weight exercises are great, you could even incorporate more bodyweight things like handstand pushups and one armed pushups/pullups. I agree with mush4 you don't need a gym membership and also like his weight belt ideas.

I would encourage you to check out kettlebells, there is really so much you can do with them and they are really great for full body functional strength. You could also add them to a weight belt and do weighted pullups/dips too which I have done and works out really well. Check out the KB thread in this section of the forum, a lot of great stuff there!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us all. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
