    #1453646 - 04/12/03 10:57 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Found on a hill alone in a patch of dirt. No spore print (maybe I'm doing something wrong, I followed all the instructions I could find on this site though)
Cap is light bage with white cracks.

Yeah, we really need some more pics of it, at different angles and such. It'd be great if you could get a shot of the gills.

There we go...

Can you try taking a spore print on foil?

Perhaps the spores are white and you're not seeing them :\

My first guess(a wild guess) is that it's some type of Agrocybe.

Yeah, I think Gumby's on the right track here. The cracked cap in the first photo plus the attached gills and earthy brownish color to the gills would make me first suspect Agrocybe, probably close to Agrocybe praecox. Not active, if that's what you're looking for. Not worth eating as an edible either. Interesting mostly from a mycology perspective.

Happy mushrooming!

Thanks, if I find another I'll take a better spore print, but these are too dry by now.

OK, the spore print came out redish brown. Do all active mushrooms leave a blue spore print, or just one familly of shrooms?

No shrooms have blue sporeprints. If you read my guide at http://www.mushroomjohn.com/species.htm

It provides one with a complete how to identify Psilocybe and Panaeolus shrooms. Learn their characteristics and logistics, their habitsats, etc. Everything you need to know is in my book which is the longest selling shroom guide to magic shrooms in the whole world. It has been in print since 1976.
