Ok, his may or may not be the forum to place this at. However, I have started an outdoor grow OF PC tasmanian, and I used mycelium from already picked shrooms. It started the mycelium nicely!!! however I also have clones of golden teacher on agar from last year. will the GT mycelium still grow onto horse doody? Will it last that long? roughly a year? Thank, Mr K@

this is a question i have wondered as well, when you find out maybe take some notes and update us on here, Im def interested in knowing. In the proper conditions I know mycelium supposedly can be kept for several years dormant, but growing in the wild or composted, I am not sure how long you will keep the it running, i guess it depends on how many nutrients are available.
One of the largest organisms on the earth is a mycelial mass 2200 acres in area,
A giant fungus of the species Armillaria solidipes (honey mushrooms) in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon was found to span 8.9 km2 (2,200 acres),[4] which would make it the largest organism by area.
so under the right conditions I believe the running can continue indefinately, in most grows there is a certain amound of medium that when ran through fruiting occurrs in a few flushes a few weeks after and then the mycelium is discarded due to possible contamination of bacteria growth.
I dont know if this helps, like I said I am also with similiar questions...

The Advanced forum is slower than Cultivation, and; not being a dick but this isn't particularly advanced.
Trying to keep cultures for long periods is a common practice in all mushroom cultivation, it's what a culture slant is for. Search slant and you will see what I'm talking about. Some can go 10 years.

Roadkill said: mycelium in sterile water will last for over 10 years in the frig!~
and then there is a few other methods...
but I'll wait and let RR talk about those.
