coir bulk: dunking before 1. flush

Hi!
I have this 2l bulk substrate (coir+verm) fully colonized, it took about 5 weeks to colonize. It seems to be quite moist but I think I'm gonna dunk it anyway before birthing.
How long would you dunk it? 5-12 hours?
Thanks!

you don't dunk bulk substrates before the first flush.
Do it afterwords...If it took that long to colonize, there's probably something wrong in your procedure.
You either got some kinda contam or your moisture was WAYYYY to high.
My monos colonize fully in 10-16 days w/ consolidation.

Ok so no dunking.
It has been fully colonized for some time now. I was away a bit and I was going to let it pin before birthing. But now I caught some metabolites and thought of birthing.

yea, I'd birth it if you've got metabolites. I normally let mine go until I see pins developing, but I get those around the 14-16th day of colonization.

Yeah, I just rinsed the metabolites off and moved the substrate to the FC. Cheers for helping me out!
Edit: ...a little more:
Yes, the substrate was propably a bit too moist because it took so long to colonize. On the other hand, I can't be sure if it had been fully colonized after three weeks or so, I didn't check on it for a while; also I think maybe I'm not yet so good just telling when it's 100% colonized.
When I opened the lid of the box I sniffed the sub and turned out fine; shroomy and familiar, but yet a bit weak smell. No sign of contamination. I cut some of the black liner and accidentally poked a small hole in the sub with the scissors. I hope the scissors were clean. But it's in the FC now, we'll see how it turns out after all.

moved? wait, I thought you had a mono tub?
What is your method. I see you say 2 L "bulk" what'd you use?
No reason to rinse off the metabolites, really. They're good. It's a sign of stress & possibly fighting contams.

No monotube here. I have a PMP fruiting chamber. I made a mix of pf cakes and coir+verm in a 3l airtight box (with micropore on few holes in the lid). Now it's colonized and I took the lid off (and rinsed the metabolites for apparently nothing or worse) and moved it to the PMP FC.
Edit: I added some stuff on my earlier post. This is just a notice of that.

yea, you'll be fine.
Also, you can use a SGFC for those "cakes" too.

The wetter the substrate, the slower it is to colonize.
Next time be sure your coir/verm is at "field capacity" before you pasteurize, cool, then spawn to it.

Precisely! 5 weeks to colonize is pretty crazy. There is something going on there other than HEALTHY MYCELIUM. 10 days is pretty much normal.

Yeah, like an overly hydrated substrate and all the problems that can cause. Another guess, temperature's too high for colonization.
