I'm worried that the torture is going to involve watching LeBron win. I really want him to continue to suffer. I'm hoping for a LeBreakdown- but he's been on his game so...
Go Mavs

Yeah, that sucked. It was a pretty boring game, imo. Didnt get good until the 4th
Game 2 is about as close to a must-win for Dallas as it comes. I cant see them winning if they head home down 0-2

Yeah, it was pretty boring.
Hopefully Barrea can hit those shots in the rest of the series. He's had good looks. Dirk got his points, so that's a good sign. Neither team played bad, so it could be an interesting series.

I thought both teams played very bad games
Berrea certainly has to play better than going 1 for 8 with 2 points in 18 minutes of play

Just read that Dirk tore a tendon in his middle finger on his left hand. While it isnt a serious injury it will definitely have some effect on his game

Read about that. The man is still so much on fire he was still hitting those shots. If he can continue to still play like the first game while Barrea plays well, and Terry gets back to hitting his fourth quarter daggers, the Mavs have a big chance.

Yeah, I dont think that the injury will be significant but it's obviously going to affect him a little bit. No one gets a torn tendon in your hand and doesnt have it affect them in some way. The Mavs are definitely going to have to have their bench step up and score.
Shawn Marion has been priceless these past 2 series. Probably the most impressive Mav other than Dirk.

Wow can't believe the Heat allowed a comeback like that. I almost turned the game off thinking there was going to be know way. Much to my surprise Dirk and the Mavs came back kicking.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of either team. But from my point of view the Heat and Lebron especially are hungry for the title. I could see a dynasty starting from these guys; first year together and already in the finals, they still have years to bring in more talent and come together as one.

He sure was a choke artist in the 4th quarter. You could tell he was trying to steal the spotlight from Wade. Wade was on fire all night and he should have been the one with the ball late in the game, not LeBron
Bosh has been awful this series also. I think they said he was shooting 9 for 34 or something

mavs just gotta keep on. keeping james or wade to as close to or under 20pts and sticking to the zone defense. when the mavs can control the rhythm and catch miami slippin tryin to double on dirk, they've got it.

Heat need to keep playing Haslem on Dirk. He is the only player on that team (maybe LeBron too) who can actually contest Dirk's shots. Chris Bosh has no chance.
Tyson Chandler and JJ Berea are the 2 most important players to backup Dirk. Tyson's got to stay active on the offensive boards and keep getting points in the paint and drawing fouls.

I'm totally neutral with the situation but I really don't see how the Mavs will pull this one out; the heat just have that fire in their eyes.

I beg to differ. In every game so far the mavs have had to fight there way back in it. Now maybe the heat give up the lead but for a team that is brand new (first year being together) I would say they've showed some pretty impressive fire. Just my opinion.

Whichever team wins the series one of their players is gonna get the Finals MVP, either Wade or Dirk. Dirk probably still deserves it the most, but Wade has been playing phenomenal as well.
Go, Mavs!

I really don't see Miami winning 2 games in a row, home or not.
Don't want to talk to early could be totally wrong but I would actually put money on them wining two in a row, might be biting my tongue by the end of the series but I just have this intuition that they are going to be holding that title when it's all said and done.

Doesn't anyone think that refs in the NBA influence the games in a more one sided way than any other major sport in the United States?
If Miami doesn't win the next two games I'll be surprised and I would bet money on Miami to do it but me gambling days are over.

covers.com refs stats show the games are called as the refs normally call them. now who's picking the refs is another story. and the nba is def the worst about this, but I also think alot of the calls are really hard to make and are much more situational than any other sport besides football, where anything can get a replay.
I don't think anyone seriously thinking the heats got this is watching the same series I am. game 5 was the mavs playing at the capacity they've played with all year. look at the stats. also holding james and/or wade to under or close to 20 points is exactly whats happening.
I guess maybe you could base it on intangibles like the "fire in a players eyes" but that means you've been taking Doris burke as a serious sports commentator

I have had no major complaints with the officiating at all this Finals. In all games they have been pretty consistent and they are letting the guys play hard and not whistling every single bit of contact
I think they coaches have more T's than the players right now

I think a lot of that shit of not fouling with 50 seconds to go is on the coach. Same with launching threes instead of driving and getting fouled, as the announcers said.

He didn't blame the entire loss on him, but ultimately the coach bears some of the responsibility. And let's be honest, Spo is terrible.

Well deserved, Dirk. Well deserved. Joined the Mavericks in 1998 and stayed with them ever since. Not one of those soulless sports mercenary millionaires that just follow the trail of the most money, but loyal to his team. He could have gone elsewhere for better chances of winning the NBA championship, but he said that it just wouldn't be the same as with the Mavs. Here's a toast to a future Hall of Famer.

As much as I love Dirk and he did deserve the MVP. Without a guy name Jason Terry, they would have lost and be playing in a Game 7.
Jason Terry carried that team. Every time they needed a big basket, he stepped up and knocked it down. All while Dirk went 1 for 13 in the first half.
And everyone laughed at Terry after Game 3 when he challenged LeBron to try and guard him for a full series. Terry showed his ass up. Was absolutely clutch in Games 4, 5, and even more in Game 6
I think Dallas has just as good of a shot at repeating. Next year they will have the same lineup; but add a healthy Caron Butler (the teams #3 leading scorer) and Branden Hayward
Mark Cuban is looking like a genius.
Cant wait for the NBA Draft

Yes, Terry did it for them and I'm glad Cuban has some humility now and respect for the players instead of the attention he brought to himself to the point of distraction in the first finals meeting between the two teams.

I am a bit worried about that chick. Check out the last pic. Does she have swimming webs between her fingers? Reminds me of the late 70's TV series "Man From Atlantis" with Patrick Duffy. Or is this a natural mutation that allows you folks on the gulf coast to scoop up more oil in one go as you are trying to clean up the beaches and deltas?

Further proof LeBron is a choke artist. You have 3 of the top 15 players in the league all playing together and they still cant get a ring. Now I know it was the 1st year and they will undoubtedly be back in the Finals again but they should have won it this year
Fucked up thing and what keeps me hating the Heat, the Heat are already the favorites to win the NBA Finals next year

I mean it was there first year, don't see why the blame is all on Lebron either; he did ice the cake in the bulls series. In my opinion the other two superstars have there part in it. The Mavs were rollin, give the heat some time to warm up, you already know they will be back. Personally I'm not a huge fan of either team just looking at it from an outside perspective.

I put it on LeBron because I think he played the worst of the Big 3 when he is supposed to be the best of the group. He's supposed to be the best basketball player on the planet and he simply didnt show up to play. Reminds me of Cleveland/Boston series the year of "The Decision."
He did play a bit better in Game 6 but I think he is taking the heat, pun intended, because he didnt live up to his reputation. I remember hearing that Dirk had more points in the 4th quarter than James and Wade combined.
The Heat will definitely be back. It will be interesting to see what vets they add in the offseason.
But let's not forget that Chicago will be better and the Knicks will be much better and possibly the team who can beat the Heat

Agreed. The city of Dallas is hurting financially so Cuban is going to pay for the championship parade out of his own pocket, he also tipped the wait staff $20,000 for that champagne.

Being a Cowboys fan as well, you should know that we have had our ups and downs. We did win multiple Superbowls in the 90's. You cant win every single year. I think we have a very good team heading into next season. I think if Romo wouldnt have been hurt for 4-6 weeks last season we could have been a Superbowl contender.

Yah I would have to say Jerry and Mark go hand in hand as far as great owners. I think they both are very invested. Awesome pick of the $90,000 bottle of champagne. What a great night that must have been for those guys!

Yeah I've heard the NFL is saying right now the best case scenario is an 8 game season. Sucks for whoever wins that title as there will be a major asterisk that comes along with it.

Haven't herd that myself but wouldn't doubt it at all. Your so right about winning a title with that kind of a season. All around shitty situation; the people who pay to make these guys who they are are the ones getting the shitter.

Amazing picture . I heard about that. Glad you posted it.
I've gained a lot of respect for Cuban recently, and now even more with him paying for all of this, including the championship parade.

Charles Barkley Doesn't Think There Will Be Basketball Next Season
Now that the NBA Finals confetti is starting to settle, it is time to acknowledge the elephant in the room: is there going to be basketball next season? Charles Barkley doesn't think so.
Howard Eskin and Ike Reese of Philadelphia's WIP radio station asked Barkley for his take on the possible upcoming NBA lockout and his take was not pretty.
"It’s going to get ugly. I feel bad because we are coming off a great year for the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks are a feel good story," said Barkley. "If you can’t be happy for Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki there is something wrong with you and that ain’t got nothing to do with hating on the Heat. You should be happy for Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd, but in both of these sports and it’s just my opinion now. These owners are batting down the hatches and they are going for it. I’m going to be honest with you––I would be surprised if we played basketball next year."
The respected analyst did point out that he has no inside track to exclusive information.
"I don’t have no inside info. I think what’s going to happen is once we start missing games and it starts creeping. I think they are going to say ‘You know what let’s don’t play this year.’ That’s just my personal opinion because I think last time [1999] it was so negative when we played 40-50 games. I think the reaction was so negative. Some people said the Spurs really didn’t win a championship that year because it didn’t count. I think once the NBA get locked out and everything gets started. I’m hoping we don’t miss any games. I got great respect for David Stern. I think he is the best commissioner in sports. I truly believe these owners in both sports that they at a point now where they are going to try to break these unions I truly believe that.”
