Help ID backyard finds.
    #14532782 - 05/29/11 08:18 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hello all! This is my first attempt at ID'ing a mushroom.  I recently started hunting for mushrooms and I'm trying to ID as many as possible.

Habitat:
flower bed
Gills:
attached and crowded
Stem:
Length 1.5", diameter 1/4" , color whitish
Cap:
Diameter 1.5" , color tan/cream , texture smooth, convex.

Spore print color:
dark brown
Bruising:
none
Other information:
smells mushroomy.

My guess using audubon field guide is agrocybe praecox

Heres just a couple other photos of fungi from around the yard.

unknown- got purple/brown inky stuff on fingers when squeezed

puffballs

1. Agrocybe
2. By the way you describe it, I guess inky cap. By the image alone do I dunno wtf it is.
3. Scleroderma. Allowing us to see the gleba (spore bearing tissues on the inside) would give us a better idea of the species, but there is no incentive on your part, other than pure scientific interest, to do so.
