Can confirm the thing jose posted works just fine. In the past before I stopped mycology work I had stored blank plates for 4+ months with no contaminations developing on the blank agar.

It offends me that you say "just fine".
The ones I posted are godly if we compare it with all the bulky, inadequate and really expensive containers people post here.
C'mon folks, do you even Shroomery?

how does everyone insure no condensation in the little pots?
is it a case of letting the agar cool before pcing? bringing it up to temperature slowly in the PC? cooling it a certain way?

On my fancy electric one there is a pressure release valve. (it's not the world's biggest)
Jose they look good but I wouldn't know what to do with 500, I suppose we could do a group buy all chip in a fiver and divide them.
I think Jose it's easier for people like myself who only want to grow for myself and don't need much to nip to local shop and buy 5 or 6 for a few pound As I don't have the space and the wife doesn't know fully what I'm doing. Anyways that's my opinion

And tbh fuck knows how to reduce the condensation with these post I have a bit in the ones I just did in jars I used to make bigger holes with no problems so maybe I’ll makw the plastic holes bigger. Would like to hear how other people avoid it

That helped with plates I havnt tried these yet I’ll have to have a go! Ye I don’t think a little water hurts but to much spreads the contam about if you move them around to much. I had one with a lot of condensation so I went rouge and poured it out before I did my transfer have to see how that goes

I stack petris on top of each other, and the top one i put my bru on the lid lol Tbh it shouldnt matter that much it should be sterile after all, and most likely run down on the agar and be absorbed. Ive never opened a petri dish the day after PCing and found a puddle ontop of the agar

Your not fully into this yet but those words will haunt you. 5/6 is not enough i do at least 10 innoculations to start then 3/4 transfers from each then do that at least 4 times before putting to grain so that potentially 120 dishes just to get a few perfect cultures (its never that many as i only use the better dishes and bin the rest) to put to grains to expand to more grains and then if you want an isolate times that number by 5-10. Buying 500 for 20/30 quid is good thinking and wont last that long at all once you get going. After the first dish, the dish amount grows at an exponential rate Some helpful advice pour as many plates/tubs as you physically can store, theyll last a while and you have room to learn and make mistakes i must knock over fuck up 3 or 4 plates every time. I once made 30 transfers had them stacked in rows of 5 as i turn my arm to grab last plate i knock a row, i shit you not every fucking row fell like dominoes and not 1 single fucking lid stayed on top of a single damn dish, had to scrap the lot.

cheers Mazdarx! They seem to have cleared now after I gave them all a good flick to bead up the condensation, so hopefully should be grand

You can order the same containers in smaller batches, but the price goes down considerably if you buy them in bulk. Purchasing just a few is a lame thing to do. A box of 500 comes neatly packed in a box that ain't even big.
Also what mrmazda said
You'll soon realize how crazy agar gets and how fast. Buying unwieldy and bulky containers with lids that are less than ideal is something you'll learn to regret fast enough, and it's a no-no if to top it all they're expensive.
Maybe visiblity is the only redeemable feature of some of the containers people post here, but having good visibility pales in comparison with things as important as ergonomics, sturdy plastic and proper size. The only moment when you really need to see the culture is when you open a plate to take a wedge, a container that allows enough visibility to distinguish growth and spot contams will be good enough.
