Hi fellow uk'ers please could I hear how different people have done their lighting eg. Tube or bulb and wiring. I can't find any lights over 2700k except a tube with fitting at 4000k, only problem is that it's designed for the ceiling so I would need the wire a plug onto it? In the meantime I'm using a 2700k bulb in a clip on thing plugged into the wall. Are there even battery powered alternatives? I really think I'm missing something so simple hope you can help... Sorry if it's already been answered in the thread but wasn't on first few pages and il b fucked if I'm reading 38 lol

There's some great great agar being sold on ebay... Pretty cheap too.
Does anyone have links for hepa filters? I'm having trouble finding some.

Hey Wiggum, What have you found fan wise to power your.. I assume laminar flow hood?
For filters I've been looking at; http://www.addfiltration.co.uk/hepa-filters These have the depth and pressure rating that most of the tutorials call for and price is acceptable
I also found these while more expensive, they actually state they are for laminar flow, but they dont seem to have the correct resistance or depth?? http://www.jasunfiltration.com/acatalog/Laminar_Flow_HEPA_Filters.html
Not sure I have the wood working skills to put one together either..
Good Luck

Got garlic dip from the local takeaway and noticed the tub was surprisingly PP5, both lid and bottom, often the lid is not PP5 when the base is, or does not have a code on it at all. It was Satco brand, a uk manufacturer, model/code M2, which is 2oz, they have 4oz too, M4, some online stores have the 4oz for just a little more. The 2oz is not particularly wide, the 4oz dimensions might be out there.
The seem a bit thicker than what you usually would get disposable sauces in. I have yet to try and sterilize it, but will.
I see them on various sites for sale in 500 & 1000 quantities cheap enough. I expect a local takeaway would sell you a bunch for cheap enough. I will probably just visit the takeaway more and collect them up. I am collecting lots of PP5 larger trays from chinese takeaways, rice or main dishes can come in them. I get ribs or chow mein in extra large PP5 trays which are of reasonable quality.
I have seen them in sale in bulk in a local Filipino shop, a lot of the Asian supermarkets tend to cater to takeaways, and of course they have cheap agar to go with it!
EDIT. seems like these are the 2 & 4oz, so the 4oz does not look wider, appears to be the same cap just deeper

you can see extra bits of plastic, ribs, on the underside of the rim, which make it stronger for resuse.

Nice one. I got a packet of felt patches from The Works for a quid - done pretty much the same: big hole with felt stuck over it.

How were they empty, nothing in them at all, or nothing grew from them, or they just looked like it was plain water.
If it looked like plain water you realise they could be OK. Some places sell syringes with very few spores in them, you might not even be able to see them.

The first thing that was suspicious was that I ordered 10ml syringe and they sent 20ml. I tried making various liquid cultures and none were successful or even got contaminated. Then emailed to complain and got sent a new one and made LC with the whole 20ml syringe and still nothing.
