£143 all in, brand new. You won’t get much better than that bud!
Thanks man. £143 for a brand new cooker seems too good to be true. When I logged onto eBay and checked it out though, I was getting a total price of £178.16. Either way, it's still a pretty good deal, but I've went ahead and contacted the Seller and see whether they can offer it any cheaper. If I could get it as low as £143, I reckon I'd snap one up right there and then.
There are a few different sellers and they only differ by a few £. I think I got mine for about £140 and my induction one for £160

Any good UK/EU supply for lids (and jars possibly as well) with self healing injection ports and FAE filters? Something to use for grain spawn.
I´m also ok with just sourcing injection ports and filters and creating the jar lids myself.

I'm actuallu realizing that I don't need injection ports since I'll be doing A2G
I mean aren't those only needed if you're doing LC? (Doing my first grow here)
In that case I think I only need to source the air filters. Or premade lids with filters. Any hints?

Out of interest, has anyone got an essentials list of equipment needed to get started in the world of mycology? I'm sure someone has posted one up here in the past, but I honestly cannot be bothered going through 187 pages worth of posts to find a single list.
If anyone has one on hand, it would be greatly appreciated and would certainly save me a whole bunch of time.

I'm n00b here, but it seems like what you need depends on the tek? My first successful grow is uncle ben's (but has lots of bad reviews?) and water tub with coir... but if you're doing agar you're going to need quite a bit more equipment.

Thanks for your response. In the end, I managed to find a list of everything I'm going to need to get started. It looks like I've still got a fair few things to be buying (bigger purchases) now before I'm good to go.
Don't use UB Rice Bags. They seem to have upped their water content. Some conspiracy theorists seem to think it's because of their popularity within the mycology community. Whether that's true or not, I couldn't tell you. Do you have ALDI near you? These are meant to be far superior:

I do have an ALDI in reach so will give those a go, ty! tbh the nutritional info and energy content is nearly identical (increase in % water would decrease energy per 100g) to uncle bens. My main concern was the oil content. I recently just did a plain brown rice boil and added to a jar and then PC'd it, then added a small chunk of cake from a successful uncle ben tek (kinda g2g) and it's now growing in the plain rice exceptionally well. It's just so easy with rice packets though...
I use this PC and has nominal 15psi, maximum 43psi https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0007U94U0/ not bad for £52

That prestige 6L alu high dome was the fist PC I bought, good build quality.
The cheap hot plates on ebay only seem to last about 6 months, or they start to lose power at the max heat setting.
Got a tefal induction hot plate now and use the prestige steel version 7.5L PC. Perfect every time, happy with that combo.
Its not as tall as the alu high dome but is a bit wider, still does the trick though. If I had gas I'd use the alu high dome though, its built better.
The 1kg brown rice from lidl is pretty cheap 99p or something, convenient to pick up a few packets for the food drawer and PC jars of it.

Out of curiosity, when inoculating, are you going straight from MSS to UB Bags? Most experienced Mycologists would disagree with this method, but obviously many beginners choose to use this route due to its ease of use. If so, what amount of liquid are you using? If you insert more than 1cc, you will be adding too much liquid and will throw off the perfect amount of moisture, making it too wet.
Many users find that brand-name Uncle Bens bags are already too wet, so for brand-name or already-moist bags, no more than 0.75cc per bag is recommended.

Sorry I missed your post for a while. Yes MSS straight to the bag. I used to inject with the needle into the bag, but I found it worked better to make 2x 5cm incisions with a utility knife, inject straight from syringe (not needle) into one of the openings, and cover with transpore tape, then stick that into a food container. (transpore was the only one I could get)
On my first attempts using the needle, the amount injected varied a lot, but yes always less than 1cc per pack, aiming for 0.5cc or less
I'm not suggesting UB tek is the way to go, I've still got a few packets brewing, but I've switched over to BRF and I'm particularly interested in contam rate and fruit yield vs UB.

Little sanity check - I'm mulling using rye for spawn jars and sourcing it from eBay. Any input on a better grain or a better supplier is welcome 😁.

Wheat and oats available on eBay for £13.99 for 20KG. Not sure on rye. If you wanna spend a bit more you can also get millet for I think £17.99. Brilliant for a no prep tek.

Oh yea, that's a better price than rye. I'll look in to a millet tek too, thanks.

300G into a quart jar, add 125ml water. PC. It really is that easy. You can shake once the pressure drops or before inoculation. Both ways work fine!
