Base, we should make sure we finally have that pint, next time you're in London.
I made it guys, landed last night and got home and settled in. Only had a n2.5 hour connection in heathrow. Inbound flight was late, got held up in imiigration for about a half hour, got strip searched in security, slammed a pint, called home looked at the sign and it was final boarding so I ran all the way across terminal 5 and jsut made it in time. Family was a t the wrong terminal to pick me up so I waited an hour for them to figure it out! I didint have any numbers with me and no mobile for them to call so it was a bit silly really. So glad to be home. I hope to get to work sooooooon!!
I got to get some sort of home brew going, then its time to get some shiitake or something going. I've got a loooooad of cubensis and other active prints... Anyone want any? I'm gonna stick to non actives now.
I also have a toooon of gypsum and I've got a few sheets of this easyfelt stuff for GE. Lemme know if you guys need anything. Feel free to

Yeah got it in the post the other day, haven't had a chance to use it yet but looking forward to it, basically my hotplates at home are either on full blast or off when it comes to heat setting, like i can have a rolling boil or have no heat at all when i cook, simmering is pretty much impossible, so it would take too much work keeping the PC at the right heat i think
Managed to get a cheap gas burner that will do the job
You got strip searched! fuckers!

Can anyone suggest a good source for vials for use as culture slants? Planning to expand my edibles range this year so need to pick up some of these.

I was using these pretty rad 30ml plastic screw tops. All PP clear tube white caps. Stand up on there own. Pretty nice. Bought them from baffcat on ebay I think don't know if he still has any or not.
Actually I just looked them up here..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30ml-Plastic-Autoclavable-Specimen-Containers-Pk10-Geocaching-Laboratory-Insects-/110758320618?pt=UK_BOI_Medical_Lab_Equipment_Lab_Supplies_ET&hash=item19c9b5d9ea
Take a look. some like them some dont. I liked them as a suggestion from another member. They make a nice big slant surface. Just make sure to leave the lid a bit loose and seal with parafilm.

Thanks for the ebay link BaseIcks may go for those.
Thanks for the offer Mandrax but I've no prints to trade now so ebay looks good.
I've used one of those heat mats for heating up a polystyrene box of pf jars, worked pretty well though I never used a thermostat with them. Did melt a bit of the box lid once though. Nice reminder I may dig it out & put a bit more heat near my grain jars.

Did I already post this....? Had a look and can't see it in the last few pages..
23% off Mason jar lids, I need to stock up, they rust eventually after you puncture/drill them.
http://www.preserveshop.co.uk/jam-jar-lids/mason-jar-lids
I'm on their mailing list, so I forget how many times they sent me this link/info/promotion, hope it's not a repeat!

EDIT: G-13 is a mighty fine smoke..

Hi
I have a question for those that own the 14 litre Hawkins. Would you buy the same size again, or would you peg for the 18l or even the 22l. Would the dimensions of the larger pair equate to more jars in. I am struggling to track down any of the SEB catering jobbies, so it looks like the Hawkins is my next best option in the UK. I'm going to be using it for edibles and I have a 6x3m space that I can fill, if I can produce the spawn lol I know my best option is to go for an AA from the US but that's too steep at the mo.
Thanks in advance and thanks for a very helpful thread. Just had a delivery of 24x1l kilner type jars from phillip morris from the link earlier on.

Lol I get so many emails from Phillip Morris now..
I think I tried working this out when I bought my 14ltr, I know I got the dimensions for all 3, swapped a lot of emails back and forth with suppliers.
As far as I recall the 14ltr is the best value, and the increase in size on the larger models wouldn't allow for any more (1ltr mason) jars.
In fact I think with the price difference I figured it would make more sense to buy 2x 14ltr.
It's been a couple of years though, Base Icks may have some more info, he's less of a slacker than me!
Welcome aboard DWOM.

Thanks egodeathflux.
Would the fiddly lid when squeezing the 5th jar in make you spend the extra on the 18l a second time around. If the lid is not an issue after you have owned them for this long, then I think that the 14l (x2) is the way to go.
Thanks for the info and the welcome mate.

Once you've done the lid-fiddling a couple of times it's no concern.
I would def get 14ltr X2 if I was spending that money. Depending on postage it may be worth getting one and seeing how you like it, can always get a 2nd later on.
5ltrs of spawn is enough for a sizeable bulk grow if you expand to a bulk substrate.
