My bed is doing ace. Azurescens are loving the beech chips. I put some card in between layers and they've ripped through that.

I’ve picked up these from Asda

Does anybody know if they are PC safe? I’m hoping to use the shallow tubs for agar

I got some similar things from tk max and had the same concerns, but they survived the PC fine. Currently growing sclerotia in them

I just use my old pf jars for plates, works like a charm and I will always prefer glass over plastic. There is no question about heat problems here and dirability and not being able to look in from the top is a small price to pay.

I've used wheat before. But I'm sure I read the other day that it contains a lot of endo spores. I've still got a sack so I'll give it another go

You should pop to farm. They'll do it for 4 or 5 quid a sack. Plus see what other grain they do. Barley and oats will be around same price too.

I would if there were any grain farms nearby, but its hassle free getting these grains delivered, plus my neighbor has chickens anyway so its not really questionable for the postal or authorities.

I get all sorts delivered to my house, rep phosphorus, p2np, drugs, etc a bag of oats or other grains isnt even a thing that anyone would think of being suspicious. I swear by oats i can prep a 20 kg sack in an hour 2x 30 min preps due to my pot not being big enough to fit 20 kg

How does it compare to rye or popcorn to prep? I prefer popcorn myself as it's cheap and I know how to hydrate...but this looks really cheap

Put oats in pan of boiling water after 20 mins start testing oats by taking one out and cutting it in half or squishing it between your fingers if its soft and white not sort of grey/clearish and hard they are ready if not give it 5 more mins try again and repeat till ready. Rarely it takes a full 30 mins. If you start seeing popped oats then i take that as sign also they are done. Then i dump them in a strainer over the sink give them a quick shake then load into jars then pc.

Thanks, I've ordered one as that's very cheap for 20kg even with delivery. I wonder how it will perform with sclerotia producers.
