Does anyone know where I could get some bulk woodchip mulch, preferably for free, in the mainlands? Hoping to get some psilo cyans amd subs fruiting in a couple outdoor beds I dug by the Autumn. I've checked ebay and the alder smoking chips and landcaping mulch is expensive as fuck, my only other option is attempting to get a chipping company to drop some off for me without paying, like in one of those massive 2 crane ton bags

You could try asking local tree surgeons. I trade oyster mushrooms i grow for chipped hardwood with a local tree surgeon.

Definitely try and get wood chips from a local tree surgeon.
Finally found a source for hardwood sawdust.
Also a potential group buy going for these on growing mushrooms in the uk on FB

All I do is just torch a knife sharpener or anything metallic and rod like, till it glows red and just press it through the lid till a hole big enough for polyfill to fit, either that or I just drill them and slap on some micropore tape. Thing with poly though you cant stack the plates and with tape you can, though some contams can slip through when the tape peels in the pc  so as long as your getting air in there and its seeled your good.

Acid ninja seems like youve come along way since last we spoke many moons back. Good to see your still in the hobby. Stopped trying creating crazy contraptions to grow mushrooms now? Simple is the best policy i can see as your planning out door beds couldnt be less maintenance good work

I bought some beech chips from eBay. 100l £30. My bed of azurescens are go. I've got a shit ton of 3 inch branches now I need to rent a chipper and spread the love on the allotment.
Also gonna do 2 oyster patches and a stropharia patch. I should've put this in discussion page lol. Stoner ramble.

I don't know if sawdust would work in a bed. A mate of mine tried to do some in a tub and it never did anything.

reading cyanescens actually grow better on coniferous woods than other woodlovers Ill try and get some alder too I guess and compare but Im gunna be putting my grains to chip grow bags and keeping them indoors before they go out, the heat at the moment sucks balls
