These look like Psilocybe Pelliculosa, but I am unsure. Can someone help identify them for me? thank you.

Found in a grassy area where dogs poop a lot, so the ground is very well fertilized. Dark and shady, it has rained here for days. I am not considering eating these until I get a 100% ID, so any input is greatly appreciated. The stems are a cream/light brown and the gills are very dark if you cannot tell from the pic.

Thanks anyway, I thought they might be Psilocybe Pelliculosa but I guess not.
For future reference, how did you know that they were not active?

Because it's obvious to anyone who's done their homework and not every random mushroom you stumble upon is active. It's like sitting by a river bed and washing grains of sand in a collander hoping that one of the grains will be gold. You won't find 98% gold grains, trust me.

I've been doing more research, and from what I've read these ones seem like they could possibly be okay but I'm still not sure. None of my information matches up perfectly with anything I've read.
If I took a very small amount, would I get sick? I would only be taking them to check for psychoactive properties or sickly properties because nothing I've read has given me a definitive answer so far.
Or please dismiss me as an idiot if that is a terrible idea. Thanks.

If you only took a tiny bit for testing then you wouldn't know whether they are active or not even if they were super active. But trust me, your mushrooms are not active. No need for any "testing". If they were active we would have told you.

That is a terrible idea. Mostly because you can't test for psychoactive properties by taking a very small amount. Although, a very small amount of certain poisonous mushrooms might be enough to test for watershitting properties, or planmyfuneralitis.
In other words, don't eat them.

Post some pics of the underside/spore print and let's have a look.

I do believe the most obvious is that he recognized the species and knew for a fact that they were inactive.
The way I (as a fellow noob) looked at it and knew it wasn't active is by having done my homework .
but on a more serious note there appears to be no signs of damage (From where you picked it). No bruising, no blackening, nothing. Not to mention the only active they look like is Pan Subbs, and even thats a stretch, too light.
One suggestion (that helps me with learning mushrooms) is to google search every mushroom in that genus. Learn the "Identifying charecteristics," habbitats, and seasons of every (common) mushroom in that genus. While there will be numerous differences with the latter two, everything in one genus will have something about it that puts it in that genus. Learn what it is and how to figure it out and from there you just have to narrow it down to species. Daunting task but much easier if you can get this far.
