Life can be weird sometimes.
Apparently the Hericium corolloides I thought had died in the reused bag I mentioned above likely had but seemingly I forgot I had shot some extra LC of Hericium americanum into this same bag afterwards and thought that it had died or at least dried out and showed no sign of life. That was some months back.
The reason I think this now and think the americanum maybe did not die is due to the following images (my memory is crap and I discovered that I used an alcohol soluble marker on the bag when cleaning up after the Hericium so I'm struggling to pull dots together not operating on good data).

A week or two after the above image was taken the bag got to colonizing with not just white but a bacterial smell that I did not want in the house.
I moved it outside and set it on a piece of pressure treated wood for no reason other than to keep it off the ground. Its in a very slightly sunny but largely shaded spot. I've been sick lately and lost touch with a lot of things. I noticed this today.
Its supposed to be pink sometimes but maybe the intense color is due to the pressure treated wood it was fruiting against? I really have no idea but would love to know.
Roger Rabbit commented about Hericium eating up competitors and this at least seems to be holding its own. Although I do not think I am going to eat it.

I did not have a camera with me when I first noticed this so removed the fruit prior to the image and returned it not quite to its original place for the first two images.
